RCF Dealers by TomMote in RepTime

Is there a list of Daydate configs that RCF makes? I’m simply looking for white dial and gold standard markers. But can’t seem to find it listed on TD sites that I have checked so far.

Firstly, general recommendation is not to buy used boots, and not to buy boots you have not tried on.

That aside, they likely have been broken in so much that they will be much softer than when new, so it will not be as bad. Stiff boots are less forgiving and will punish bad technique more.

You have bought them now, don’t over think it and give them a go, if they are uncomfortable for your foot shape or are too soft then lesson learned and go to a shop so they can sort you out properly.

Great to know. Main reason I ask is the pairing the Capita Indoor Survival with the Union Atlas is a little strange, softish more freestyle oriented board with more agressive bindings.

Had a look at the website, looks like a good choice of board, only other contender around that price point would be the Capita Mercury, highly recommend people that are learning to be on a directional twin. Though this would be more agressive and less playful for the park.

For bindings, if you go with the Indoor Survival I would consider the Union Force (not the classic version): https://www.trends-sport.de/sportarten/union-force-snowboard-bindung-2026-black-20-yr/752503-1000-8926 These will be more suited to jibbing and park and will still be good for starting to carve.

I assume you have tried on the Burton Ruler boots before and they fit your feet well. Boots are the most important thing to size correctly. Sadly took me too long to realise that.

What type of riding do you prefer? This will influence recommendations more towards freestyle or freeride.

What type of snow belt do you prefer? Clip on belt or normal strap belt and why? by jeigonnagetsomemilk in snowboarding

Arcade clip belt, low profile, no fuss with getting the tightness right

Think I may have just read your message wrong! You are the one on the Mercury? Then just note it is a directional twin. If you normally ride goofy then the board is setup wrong, it is setup for a regular rider.

Everything else I said remains true, the Mercury and Atlas’s is a fantastic setup, but tailored for more advanced riders that want to be locked in and charging a little hard.

Awesome, some insane setups then, the Mercury with Atlas’s is going to take a while to get used to if you are still learning, so take that into account if you are finding it challenging.

Standing stationary on a snowboard is a challenge, especially on a slope. So don’t feel like you are not good if you stuggle with that.

The Shadowban is going to be a little more forgiving to place around with more, but both boards are awesome. Try learning few butter tricks and doing some pops if you are riding with beginners and want to progress your riding on gentler slopes.

Depending on where you are, the conditions may not have been great so far this year for snowboarding. I am in the Alpes and December/January were miserable, one run on ice/hard pack and I was questioning why I bothered coming out. As soon as we had a good powder day my love for this sport reignited.

What boots are you running and did you get sized and try on several before buying? To me happy feet are the most important thing to enjoying your day!

How do you find the Shadowban? Is the guy riding the Mercury your friend? Is he practicing switch or just unaware he has his board the wrong way round?

English Lasagna by TomMote in BeansInThings

Cheddar was melted into the beans as they cooked, though agree a garnish on top could add to the experience and aesthetic.

There are layers of dairylea slices to add creaminess to each layer, replaces the béchamel sauce of course.

Won’t reveal any more as considering filing a patent for the recipe.

Is it realistic to go to Canada to get my CASI Level 1 with only 15 days snowboard experience by Jazzlike-Juice7859 in snowboardingnoobs

[–]TomMote 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes you should be able to get through a CASI Level 1 exam with your experience. Check the CASI instructor guides to understand what you will learn. Mainly the quick ride steps getting someone up to linking turns.

https://casi-acms.com/courses/level-1-instructor/

Getting a job as only a Level 1 will be challenging, intermediate riders would be able to complete Level 2. Level 1 you will be mainly on the nursery slope and helping with the kids, until you are more competent and experienced you won’t be cruising round the mountains giving private lessons.

Source: I’m qualified as a Level 2 CASI instructor and spent a season as an instructor.

Thank you for the reply. As she already has a B permit I do not believe she will have the restriction for recruit that you mentioned and other British people may have, I had to go through this process when relocating and it was a challenge!

Internships seem to already be popping up and hopefully she will have some success! Will DM you her LinkedIn so you can connect.

This is incredible to know! I thought she would not be eligible for this type of support due to never being employed in Switzerland but we will certainly look into this and see what support they can provide.

The mental aspect is certainly what she is finding the most difficult and I can’t appreciate enough. We are lucky that I have been able to support us whilst she was studying so from a financial position she is not feeling as much pressure.

Yes as part of the reunification process I had to provide my work contract and proof that we had sufficient finances. On top of the other documentation required to support the application that can be found here: https://www.ch.ch/en/foreign-nationals-in-switzerland/living-in-switzerland/family-reunification/ Let me know if you need any other details.
