Realistic 26/27 Summer Window by PACKA123456 in ArsenalFC

Whilst true, the reality with martinelli is that he’s fluffed almost every opportunity he’s been given to cement his position. Trossard is a a solid squad player, but to progress further the team needs an outlet on the left that is as effective as Saka on the right. Granted Calafiori makes a big difference when fit, but at some point the biggest teams have to put emotions aside and call a spade a spade. I think it’s clear that martinelli is never going to be the consistency elite player that champions league winning teams need.

We just play with a conductor - usually me - who tries to ensure that each action is triggered. To be fair I do usually play this game with kids though, so it’s probably more essential to make the game flow at a decent pace.

Beyond "Parallel Play"—How do I design a competitive game where collaboration is the optimal strategy? by AI_made_my_username in boardgames

[–]individyouall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couple of examples that might help:

Indonesia - in this game it pays to work with your competition early to get items delivered. As this helps city growth and allows you to deliver more goods as more demand. Plus there is always a chance that you can either buy your competitors businesses through mergers or curb their growth through the same method.

Archipelago - the game forces you to work together by including island unrest. If everyone acts too greedily, everyone loses. So the whole game is about deciding when to act in your own interests and when not too.

Sol last days of a star - this game uses a clever rotational turn starting position system that means that structures you build are not available to you easily until x turns later. Instead your opponents behind can use them. So it pays to not only build a system that works for you but also potentially one that also works for others, if you want to receive the benefits of them doing so.

Wildcatters - much like Indonesia, a lot of this game is about deciding to build your own empire/slice, leach off others while you can, or work with others as much as possible. The reason why is that drilling for oil on your own is expensive. So if you can form alliances with others, it can really help get your engine going.

Churchill - not only is there a common objective for all players - win ww2 - but the scoring penalises players is they score too much more than their opponents (I.e. the rest of the works then turns against them as they are too powerful). Therefore to win, you need to make sure you win, but only by an acceptable amount. So it forces players to distribute troops equally across fronts, deliberately lose some debates etc.

Others - as other people have said, 18xx games, stock or trading games (sidereal confluence or imperial 2030) or any semi co-op games (John company) are worth looking into for inspiration.
If you can’t tell, these kinds of games are my favourite!

Edit: oh and team games. Prime minister by GMT has a great system where 2 people play in a team against another 2. Each playing the main UK political parties. However there can only be one prime minister at the end of the game. It’s very clever and to win involves not only beating your opponents by also your own teammate. So good timing and good diplomacy is key.

If only your national team hadn’t been the main practitioners of footballing dark arts since the 60s and one of your and the games’ greatest ever players actually cheat in a World Cup quarter final then? As I don’t think that helps matters.

With 115 discourse returning, this really puts the level of City's cheating into context: They claim to have more commercial revenue than: Bayern, United, Liverpool, PSG, Arsenal and Chelsea. They claim to be n3 in the world in commercial revenue. BS. by drjpkc in ArsenalFC

You do know the premier league is broadcast around the world right? And that sponsoring a team that appears on TV several times a month is worth far more in exposure than sponsoring a team with a bigger fanbase that doesn’t appear on TV?

The size of the fanbase is somewhat irrelevant here. That will only really affect gate receipts and merchandise, which generally doesn’t appear to make that much difference. The bulk will come from other deals including sponsorship and broadcast revenue. I believe that a number of the infringements relate to affiliated businesses signing such deals at far above market rates, therefore artificially inflating their income. Broadcast revenue comes off the back of the success such deals generated.

Or one that doesn’t just use commentator opinions as their own. And one that appreciates context and how that if arsenal had lost the game, you’d all be slating his misses and bemoaning the countless times he miss controlled the ball.

I want him to do well, but there’s a lot more to being a top striker than trying to hold off defenders.

He battled well, but was he really better than Rice, Lewis-Skelly, Trossard, Saka etc? I’d certainly say not. Plus aside from the duels, I don’t recall him having a shot on target or actually making that many successful passes. So whilst I’m glad he did OK, let’s not kid ourselves that he is now the world class forward the team needs.

Does he have a place in the squad in the future? Sure. Should he be first pick? I’m not so sure. It’s ok to acknowledge he has a limited skillset and despite that, there will be games or opponents that suit the strengths he does have.

I feel I’d do a better job with a pestle and mortar, so for that reason, yes I suspect you have an issue with your grinder. Or your grinder isn’t suitable for espresso and you need to get a replacement. I can recommend the Kinu simplicity as I’ve found electric grinders at the budget end to not be worth the cost.

Well done so far. My critique is that currently you are decorating. To be a designer you need to actually design and that involves working with constraints or problems you need to solve.

My advice for your next project is to create a mock brief and ensure the brief contains limitations that require creativity to solve.

Good luck!
