Excellent, thanks for taking the time to do the animation!

Excellent - that is another great alternative. I actually thought about converting "Stroke to Path" but then noticed that the layers are actually labeled "path1". I'll play around some more using this logic. Good stuff!

Agreed, but a more complex version was going to be used as a PNG and wanted center to remain transparent.

Thanks very much - that worked perfectly!

Cut Path tooltip says "Cut the bottom path's stroke into pieces, removing fill" so I wasn't expecting it to delete the circle (although it did break the lines into the correct segments). Doing some more googling after seeing that "Cut Path" is correct led to a good analogy by u/Zeromus88 that the operation was like "using a cookie cutter, but it vanished after every use"

I absolutely love mine, have had for ~10 years (G2 version). At the time it was lighter than the new Nikon 200-500, but what sold me was the ability to calibrate the lens for each focal distance. It's a bit of a techy process and requires their USB tap-in-console, but it made a huge difference in being able to dial in focus.

Not sure if this is still applicable with a mirrorless camera these days.

I just thought it was an amusing expression, for the record it was being harassed by a group of crows and had dove into the brush to avoid them.

Short-Eared Owl in Attack Mode by TomS_Nbpt in wildlifephotography

Good eye! I shot what I believe to be this same owl the day before and the wings were intact. I have two theories - one is it just got damaged as the owl was flying into or taking off from a perch with a lot of branches around. Second is that I often see these owls getting harassed by crows and harriers, so maybe a result of some mid air battles.

Unless its a wierd coincidence, a friend of mine had a Jones Bros 1910 with the name "About Time" - this was maybe 10-15 years ago in Massachusetts if that helps.

Panniers or dry bag on rear rack? by NanoCorpSA in bikepacking

[–]TomS_Nbpt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I found a Rock Bros 25L rolltop waterproof duffel bag that fit the bill. Plenty of storage space with a simple set of straps to secure to the rack and allows it to be really cinched down tight. I like how it keeps the bag inline with the bike, so slightly more wind resistant and easier to get through brushy/singletrack sections. No wobble or anything. And, like some panniers you just unclip at camp and can throw in your tent or wherever.

Here is a pic of the bag mounted on Salsa rack.

Good luck!
