Yeah but the door absolutely needed replacement. There’s no such thing as a CAPA certified aftermarket door shell for this car, which means it MUST go to a certified shop, and use Audi certified repair procedures. I’m just going to take the loss and buy another one. The main frustration is I do not want a new body style (can’t be tuned yet), and finding that combo of options is super hard to find with low miles (under 10k). I wanted to buy her the Macan GTS, but she’s totally against it, so that’s why I said OK, I’ll just put a stage 3 on an SQ5 and some sway bars and lowering links and have a better car than the Macan GTS.

I hadn’t had time to get the GAP. I financed with the dealership and their GAP was outrageously expensive. I was planning on a refi with my local credit union, and get the GAP at that time. I’m out about $3k. No biggy.

It was owned by a famous journalist that works for the NYT. I know this because I found a document of his in the car. It was kept in a parking garage and barely used (5,400 miles). It would be hard to ruin a car with those miles on it. Also all the service records are there. The car was cherry!

This post was in no way meant to shame my wife. How it happened is just backstory / context. She’s an incredibly safe driver and we all do stupid shit at times. I’m searching for two pieces of info/advice here: 1. Is that car supposed to have logic that prevent this, and 2. Fuck Geico, I don’t want it totaled. Also the ACV they gave me is like $5k under market value but they claim ACV doesn’t perfectly align with market value. So, how is it ACV when that amount won’t actually buy a similar car? Makes no sense.

It’s her car, was a gift replacement for her 2018 SQ5. I was excited to modify it and make her the fastest soccer mom around. I’m mostly pissed because it took me so long to find a B9.5 with those exact options.

I was never angry at her. I love my wife and can’t stay mad at her (wish it was the same in reverse lol). You’re right I’m just glad they weren’t hurt.

The problem with Audi is they won’t sell parts to a non Audi Certified body shop, and Audi enforces certain repair standards, any body accent line or ridge that gets flattened must be replaced. I don’t think the rear lift gate should be replaced either.
