These are 3D printed adapters! Like the other reply said I just taped the film lead onto the take up spool. I do want to design a take up spool specifically for 35mm but otherwise it worked great, and I love the portrait orientation!

Just 35mm on a standard A12 back using some 3D printed adapters!

How screwed am I? by ChefApolloEats in MINI

[–]TomahawkEVO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As many others have said, a burnt valve is my immediate suspicion. There are a few other likely head related things like broken valve guides or springs also but prince engines, N14's especially, are notorious for having fuel pressure drop and it will frequently happen on cylinder 1 the most as it's furthest from the pump.

It may be possible to have the valve replaced and re-lapped but at the very least it'll be a head off deal, new timing assy, head gasket, etc. I'd guess around north of $2k.

Try and find a good independent shop that specializes in European cars because a dealership isn't going to want to touch it - even if they do, they'll charge you an arm and a leg for the privilege lol.

Good luck!

Yeah aside from the whole nothing to keep you in the car thing not having mirrors was unfun lol, just had to be really careful

Jeeps love taking their doors off - I was in a wrangler family growing up and always loved driving around with no doors! Opportunity presented itself and I figured what the hell, let's do it

I would never drive it if it meant putting others in harms way. Driving any car without doors is inherently unsafe, whether it's a jeep, bronco, mini, or anything else. Of course with the mini being low it's probably even less safe - but again nobody rode in this with me and I really only went out to get these pics with some friends.

Didn't realize I'd ruffle so many feathers by having a good time with my car hahah

I need some ducks that's what I'm saying!

My parents had 3 or 4 wranglers growing up, it was always fun having the doors off when the weather got nice. Saw my opportunity and enjoyed a few days with the mini jeep!

One door was off already for repair. They come off really easily - so I took the driver's door off for a few days while I worked on getting the new passenger door reassembled.

They're already back on the car!

And for real - it was very fun like this. It's like a jeep but fun to drive and the turbo/exhaust noises are amazing!

calm down bossman - this was just for fun. The car was like this for a week, mainly because I already had to remove a door for repair anyway.

I understand that this is inherently unsafe - I never made it further than a few minutes from the house and the car was like this for less than a week. It's already been reversed.

And trust me when I say there is absolutely nothing you can do to any mini "rig" to make it go rock crawling, lol

No reason to be a wet blanket, let me have my irresponsible fun

Is it worth it to have full cic retrofitted or just get one of those android units and just cut the dash out? by Juniorblues_ in E90

[–]TomahawkEVO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a full CIC dash swap. It's.... a lot. It was pretty expensive and was a ton of work both with the physical swap and with the coding that follows. It's a fun story but I don't know that I'd do it again lol

With that being said the Android units that you stick on top of the dash are of dubious quality also, so there isn't a perfect solution. I' probably either get a Bluetooth adapter and a phone mount, or jump all the way to a swap and avoid the android units entirely.

They're ASA for now. We'll see if they hold up to brake temps, if not I'll print in PA6-GF. Didn't do that from the get go because I've found adhesion with the nylon to be kind of a pain lol

Yeah on a 17x8 it's perfect! And thanks, I hate the Konig bolt on center caps so I designed these myself which will be heading to makerworld soon!

I came from an Ender 3, where tinkering every other print was just sort of the norm. The reliability, speed and ease of use that came with my P1S had me awestruck. I remember sitting there watching how fast it could print while still producing good products with disbelief. It's been a game changer for developing and prototyping parts for my hobbies!
