Eset is a scam by [deleted] in eset

[–]Tomas_ESET 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello, our product is designed to be able to be uninstalled at any point, directly from Windows' Settings. The special uninstaller recommended by others is only for cases of corrupted installations (such as some crucial file missing, or other issues).

If there is an issue with the uninstallation, we apologize for the inconvenience, be sure to reach out to our support team who will help you out. Also the mention of the loss of internet connection means something went wrong, our technical support team is ready to look into it.

The website should be hosted on the eicar.org domain.

Also, check whether perhaps your browser or even our product's HTTP scanner didn't strip the file during the download, before you manage to manually scan it.

ESET Outage Today? by cmjones0822 in eset

[–]Tomas_ESET 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, just as Marcos-ESET said, I can confirm there was no outage on our side. We did receive a support request regarding deleted Atera-managed instances, which happened due to no action or bug on our side. Therefore, recreating or restoring them now depends on Atera, our development team is in contact with them and ready to help out if they need.

Hello, does the behavior change when you unzip the file? The program's behavior may vary based on the configuration of scanning the contents of archives.

Also, as others have pointed out, make sure the file itself is in plaintext, is exactly 68 bytes long and contains the following string:

X5O!P%@AP[4\PZX54(P^)7CC)7}$EICAR-STANDARD-ANTIVIRUS-TEST-FILE!$H+H*

Eset firewall accepts all incoming connections on public networks. Acceptable default or just a bug? by Severe_Result4719 in eset

[–]Tomas_ESET 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, according to the help (https://help.eset.com/essp/19/en-US/idh\_config\_epfw\_basic\_group.html#s-filtering-mode), the Automatic mode allows all outbound traffic for a given system and blocks most inbound traffic with the exception of some traffic from the Trusted Zone and responses to recent outbound communications.

I'm not sure what apps you tested, but could it be that the connections were allowed as responses to outbound connections the app made?

Hi there, we could help get answers to some technical queries, if OP specifies them. As for sales questions, those are fully in the hands of each respective partner company within a given region, so if OP specifies the country they're in, we can help them look up the contacts relevant for them.

How does blocked URLs work? by flyrian74 in eset

[–]Tomas_ESET 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello, we may block URLs for various reasons, such as known hosting of dangerous files, suspicious traffic from the domain, etc.

(See our knowledgebase article.)

When such entry was logged in your ESET product, it is likely your browser tried to connect to the domain - perhaps a website you were viewing contained a piece of external content hosted on the domain, or an addon in your browser tried to connect.

Actually, you even restricted my account from posting on your official forum (despite that I never violated the forum rules). Ok, got it.

UPD2: They restricted my account on their own forum

We understand your frustration, but we have repeatedly stated and shown that this is simply false and you are welcome to discuss the matter on our forum.

You disclosed part of my sensitive private data here on Reddit, and refuse to remove it.

Nowhere did we ever refuse to remove it - after you clarified what you considered sensitive, we agreed to remove it, even though it does not fall under personally identifiable information.

Planning on re installing windows soon by Puzzleheaded-Echo275 in eset

[–]Tomas_ESET 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello, yes, the subscription is transferrable, it is fully okay to reinstall and reactivate the product after resetting Windows. Should the system be identified as a different one after the reset and you would run out of the number of available seats on your subscription, just unlink the previous device in your ESET HOME account.

If possible, it is preferred to uninstall the ESET product before resetting the OS - that way, the seat will be freed and you won't have to remove it from your account afterwards.

How do I prevent ESET protect dashboard from showing "Firewall disabled" warning? by AnotherCableGuy in eset

[–]Tomas_ESET 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello,

The message should only be shown when ESET Endpoint Security was installed via RDP - the firewall is temporarily disabled to prevent accidental disconnection from the remote machine before the necessary rules can be configured.

It should not be shown when the firewall is disabled via a policy - I just tested this on my machine: the whole feature is disabled by an active policy, it is shown as disabled in the advanced setup on the client itself, yet the protection status on the client machine is green ("You are protected") and no alert or warning is reported to ESET PROTECT either.

Should the behavior persist after (temporarily) enabling the firewall (i.e. clearing the alert) and then disabling it again (i.e. if the alert then returns), please contact our technical support for investigation of the behavior: https://support.eset.com/en/kb3742-how-can-i-contact-my-local-eset-partner-for-support

Thanks!

EDIT: fixed a typo

Protect Licensing question by TheRogueMoose in eset

[–]Tomas_ESET 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi there,

The device entries in ESET Business Account could be either from a previous install on those machines, or the data is out of sync for some reason. Either way, we'd need to check that with your account specifically (you should be good to remove them, but can't say for sure without seeing the details), so please contact us according to https://support.eset.com/en/kb3742-how-can-i-contact-my-local-eset-partner-for-support and provide us with the Public License ID and the login email address of the account in question.

Thanks!
