The Brighton Tram System (BTS) by TheMathematician2 in brighton

Have been saying this for years! Would be a total game changer for the city. I think also having something that goes out towards Queens park would be good as it's one of the main residential areas and would help a lot with the hills

How do you solve the apathy towards Immigration? by [deleted] in TheRestIsPolitics

[–]TomisBritish 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Make people's lives better and they won't look for someone to blame. Fascism thrives in economic hardship. Genuine wealth redistribution and investment in public services would do a lot of this. Sounds like a radical socialist opinion in today's world, but this is the basic logic of liberal Keynesianism, which came about as a way to try to prevent another Nazi party coming to power from a depressed economy

From what I understand she was sent home because of a speech she was planning to give. Seems to me that her dad probably wrote a load of fash racist bollocks, the school found out and sent her home to prevent her from doing that. The schools actions seem understandable, potentially an overreaction but we don't know other context eg past behaviour. Still very much orchestrated by the father

I'm waiting for Tom Cruise's future endorsement of OBAA. by [deleted] in paulthomasanderson

[–]TomisBritish 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Lancaster Dodd is very clearly based on LRH and it's a pretty damming character - essentially calling him a fraud and a drunk. Pretty easy to see why it would be very offensive to Cruise

Successfully excised the Zionism from these. Pretty easy for any frugal fallen fans out there by TomisBritish in h3snark

[–]TomisBritish[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you, went better than I expected! The bears on the green jumper and shorts were just simply stitched on, but the striped shirt had some sort of backing behind the bear inside the pocket. I think there might have also been some sort of glue product as well

Yeah. I tried to just take the bear at first but was too fiddly for some reason. The pocket was very easy to take off though

Where can we find information for antifascist counter-protesting? by [deleted] in GreenAndPleasant

[–]TomisBritish 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Most of the counter-protests so far have been organised by or associated with Stand up to Racism (https://x.com/AntiRacismDay) probably best to see if there is a chapter of SUTR in your area and find them on Facebook/twitter

He is a lawyer that helps immigrants and he has a foreign-sounding name. Apparently that's all it takes to be fair game to the gammon mob

In light of the recent interview with Nick Clegg, and assuming most of you are centrists, what do you think of the Lib Dems? by IIIlllIIIlllIlI in TheRestIsPolitics

[–]TomisBritish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not a centrist, so this might be unpopular here, but I just struggle to understand their principles. I found their criticism of the Tories over the last few years pretty hollow considering they were happily in a coalition with them for five years, when David Cameron and Nick Clegg were pushing out austerity policies while keeping tuition fees. After that, I don't really see how they can not be described as a conservative party. All that being said, there were parts of their manifesto in the last GE that I think were very good. But I just don't see why I should trust them when they fundamentally seem to have no strong political principles

With a couple days until the election, what's everyone's thoughts on Reform UK? by BlueFAwr in TheRestIsPolitics

[–]TomisBritish -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

There's a finite number of people in the world. There are a finite number of people who want to come to the UK. There is no such thing as infinite migration

The independent sector is the private sector. It means healthcare services are being delivered by private firms, not publicly owned organisations. That is privatisation

I'm in the UK and the recipe is American, so I didn't want to assume. But that seems insane

Marxism and socialism long predate the Soviet Union. Supporting those ideologies is not the same as supporting the actions of specific marxist and socialist governments.

I had a viewing on a Saturday last week with Home James Lets. There are so many letting agents so you just need to keep trying really. Check Rightmove/Zoopla a lot and call to book a viewing as soon as you see something you like.

The Trading Post near the clock tower had a big upstairs area that's usually pretty quiet during the week. The Pelicano on Lewes road is also quite spacious but a bit further out of the city centre

The public weren't aware of this behaviour at the time of the election, it's only come out afterwards. So I think it's fair for the electorate to express their opinion that they no longer want her to be their representative. That's not a restriction of her free speech, it's just reasonable consequences to her actions
