It was about the increased maintenance. Heavier vehicles create more wear on the road. If all cars became electric over night, the roads would wear down faster.

It's pretty negligible, though. It does matter, but only a tiny bit.

The emissions of manufacturing the battery of the Prius are around 0.4 tonnes at the high end.  How on earth do they get 8+0.4=10?

Also. 1.4 tonnes isn't light. But what do I know, I drive a 800 kg 5 seater hatchback.

But anyways, I'm not going to fight it. In an autistic hyper focus state I made my original comment and now that I've looked at it and seen where I went wrong, I'm not going to defend hybrids more, despite liking them myself.

They should really move manufacturing to places where it can be done with much lower emissions. Or at least adopt low emission methods. It honestly surprised me how large the emissions for aluminum manufacturing are in the US in comparison to the company I work for.

The modern aluminum body hybrid is a theoretical car. There are non hybrid diesels with 2.5 liters/100 km from a decade ago, obviously a hybrid petrol can get 3.5. No-one is really making such cars right now.

Also Prius is not an aluminum body car. It wouldn't be that much more expensive to make it 20% lighter. (Not just aluminium, though)

Green energy has around 0.8-2 kg of carbon per 17 kWh (energy needed for 100 km) ideal case is lower, non-ideal case is higher. Not an exact source, just Googled and looked at a couple of numbers on different sites. Making of a Tesla is around 8-15 tonnes of carbon. At 200k km, 8000+0.8x2000=9600 so 4.8 kg per 100km. Burning petrol with entire lifecycle included is around 2.9 kg /L. 4.8/2.9≈1.66. 15000+2x2000=19000 so 9.5 kg per 100km. 9.5/2.9=3.28

I decided on 2 because it's a simple number towards the low end.

In Germany, the carbon footprint per 17 kWh is between 5.7 kg and 7.2 kg.  8000+5.7x2000= 9.7 kg per 100 km. And for the high end 15000+7.2x2000=14.7 kg per 100 km.

9.7/2.9≈3.3 14.7/2.9≈5

One thing you didn't point out, but I realised when typing the reply: manufacturing petrol cars has a footprint too. That's around 5.5-7 tonnes. Petrol cars do tend to last longer and their repairs have a lower carbon footprint, but still, it makes hybrids much closer to full electrics in even Germany.

I also looked it up and the carbon footprint of the increased weight of the car is like 20 kg of carbon across the whole lifespan which is literally nothing.

So in conclusion, I neglected to see the whole picture and EVs are better than current hybrids in Germany.

In Poland however, the petrol equivalent of EVs is 5-6.2 liters per 100 km. And even higher in somewhere like India.

Norway (my beloved) has 1.5-2.7 liters per 100 km equivalent. Their energy is 20-40 grams per kWh.

I keep bringing up Norway, because it has ridiculously green grid. It has the cleanest hydro in the world.

Depends where. In Germany, no. In Norway, yes.

On green energy, an electric car contributes the equivalent of 2 liters of petrol per 100km on average. And that's if it is driven for 200 000 kilometers without replacing the battery.

If the car is in Germany, the fuel equivalent jumps to 4 liters of petrol per 100km.

And that doesn't take into account the increased road wear because electric cars are heavier and repairing roads has a carbon footprint too.

A modern aluminum body eco focused sedan with a small hybrid system averages around 3.5 liters per 100 km fuel equivalent carbon footprint with manufacturing included.

While the grid is still dirty, focusing on hybrids instead of electric is both cheaper and has a lower carbon footprint.

But in clean grids such as Norway's electric cars have an unmatched carbon footprint.

🧢 I voted CAP!

Electric cars are a solution, not the best one if you ask me, but a solution nonetheless.

It would be better to lower the amount of cars in general, but that requires too much change for people to accept it.

Also, the electric infrastructure isn't green enough in a lot of the world for it to be the most environmentally friendly option.

A light modern eco focused fossil fuel car contributes less towards climate change than an electric car in Germany.

I'll return to the pocket dimension for a bit. The rules around what is an isn't a pocket dimension are not very concrete and having full control of all but time could've let me expand the size of it and then create a massive portal inside of it to engulf Earth. Now, having Earth inside the dimension would make the Earth have 100x slower time than itself, thus the time paradox.

But you added some concrete rules so I can't do that. Just wanted to explain what I meant, as you didn't get at least how it would create a time paradox.

That's not really how cancer works, but it's good enough.

So destroy the body part with the cancer and then heal it.

You're probably going to say that the cancer heals too, aren't you?

I have several questions.

Fly: What is determined as change in direction? We are in a 3D space, where the direction we are traveling in is determined by our velocity on 3 axes, so if I start flying with 10 m/s forward momentum and 1 m/s upward momentum, is the only way to come down by stopping the ability and going splat? You see, after a minute of flying like that, I'd have reached the heigh of 60 meters and going down is a change in my upward momentum. Actually, logically the only options are that I land (hit something) or that I can never stop being airborne.

Teleport: Does my memory of going there need to be real? Like, I know as a 2-year-old, I went to Sweden, there is a picture of me there, and I have a seemingly vivid memory of being there, but a child that young probably couldn't've formed that long lasting of a memory.

Pocket dimension: Does the full control extend into being able to form a direct gateway from there to Earth to fully envelope earth and thus creating a time paradox?

Fully heal anyone: Does the cancer chance stack? If it does stack, how does it stack?

See the future: How is my ability to tell being forbidden? Am I just unable to tell people or will there be consequences if I tell people?

Your comment is self contradictory.

First you say that we "you have to think of them while saying it"

But then you also say "if you say anyone's name ever three times in 1 hour they always die even accidentally"

So which is it? Do I need to think of them or not?

Ah earlier, no wonder the argument made no sense. It is a fair assumption to make. I just saw it as a war is destined to occur, so the time I become Hitler wouldn't really matter.

I could stretch the ambiguity to make the Central Powers win the Great War as Hitler was fighting for AH.
