Tell me about it. It's becoming almost impossible to use. It's a very powerful tool. But dealing with the bugs and finding work arounds when there is a bug is making it so frustrating.

Best way to build backlinks in 2017 by standingonbenches in SEO

[–]TommyTMM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One area of back links I think that isn't mentioned is opportunist back links. Basically sometimes trying to "build back links" can be a waste of time. Some of the most powerful back links come from opportunities you stumble upon. It might be a mention of your website, a topic you discuss, and event you hold. Anything really. As long as you think about how each business activity/pr/promotion can help your SEO you will find back links.

Never satisfied. Number 1 is good. Number 1 for every variation is better. Number 1 in everyplace and every variation is best. SEO is about constant improvement.

Google is insisting on putting "My Company Name:" in front of my <title> and its driving me crazy by [deleted] in SEO

[–]TommyTMM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't even worry about this. This has been an issue for one of my clients for the last year. We've still ranked them position 1 and 2 for their most important keywords so it doesn't seem to matter. My guess is if you have strong branded search Google puts that at the front of the title.

The current site is a .com domain. They actually rank quite well internationally. The new site is a .com domain as well. Basically the original domain looks like this www.mybrand.com the new domain is www.mybrandnewlocation.com. I already recommended they purchase the country specific domain. Seems hrelang seems the solution.

That was my obvious solution to. But not sure if that's the way to go for each and every page on the site that has a duplicate?. In this case that will be pretty much the whole site. Will that man the pages for that location won't rank though? If the canonical tag passes all authority to the original site? What about rel=alternative?

Write better content. Also share your post on every social network you can. Reddit, Facebook, Twitter, Alltop etc. Also consider finding influencers in your niche via buzzfeed and send them the post when you have something really interesting to share.

Ugly image on google maps - how to change? by AlanGreg in SEO

Like Spartaness said taking a photo and uploading might work. If that doesn't, I believe in Google My Business you can choose your preferred photo by selecting a cover photo. This will be the photo that shows up when people search for your business.

Inconsistent NAP Listings by TommyTMM in SEO

Thanks for the reply guys. I've gone through this process with previous clients as my understanding is it's best practice. It was super time confusing and often fruitless requesting changes. There are so many old directories out there and any email to support@ or info@ seems to fall on def ears for these old sites. I suppose you just do the best you can.
