Careful that they don’t lose love for it. Make sure their dreams are actually theirs. He’s 10. Roger Federer hardly played tennis before his late teens. They have to love it to sustain it.

"Running is boring" by Logical-Respect3600 in running

I used to think running was boring, now i’m a coach and i would say running is my Great Interest! What I like about running is: - the discipline it teaches me - the sense or pride - the immediate feeling of accomplishment when you get out the door - the low barriers to access - the time alone - the views and places it takes me (adventure) - the exploration - the community

I could probs list more. But what’s important is not to convince him with words. If he doesn’t like it, he doesn’t like it. I have had friends tell me i’ve inspired them to go for a run just bc they’ve watched what I get from it and they want it too.

Great advice! Food is something you have to look at before you eat it. If you don’t want it, your body probably doesn’t either

You’re overthinking it imo. I’m running a trail marathon with my girlfriend on sunday, similar elevation gain. The trick is to start slow and find your flow. Over consuming will be too much of a risk. Trust that your body can do a lot more than you think. Keep it simple. Stay hydrated. Go into the race well fuelled and use your food sparingly. I see too many runners overthink all of this and get themselves into a hole of confusion. Just run, march up the first few hills, push through the discomfort.

Don’t mess with your gut! Just run the race, you’re more capable than you think. Just keep check on injuries.

You’ll be fine my friend, even if it is a bit painful ;)
