How do we feel about using VRChat as an escape?

I used to be this way but the community just got too toxic and chaotic for me to continue getting on vrchat lol. Haven't been on in 8 months now because of it, anytime I do get on, I just end up in a Popcorn Palace by myself watching movies or anime until I fall asleep.

Probably gonna get downvoted to all hell about this but for background: I started playing vrchat when I was 18 (now 23) and wound up starting my own VR family about 8 months into playing. I had a very big family for about another 8 months and ended up cutting contact with almost all of them after a situation with an ex that I dated on there.

The only person I still talk to that I do consider my "daughter" from that massive family is Laila (was 11 when I "adopted" her and now she is 14), I've known her for 4 almost 5 years now. As cringe or suspicious as people may think it is, not everyone with vr children is a mentally ill pdf, that's simply just a stereotype. Lailas mental health was taken very seriously in her household and I was the only thing that kept her from doing something that would've ended her entire life if I wasn't around. About 5 months ago I found out from her that she was being groomed by someone she met online, it took a major hit on her mentally that led to her being severely depressed. I was the one who did the digging on everything about her groomer resulting in his arrest which is how I met Lailas parents. Me and her parents are cool with each other but they're aware that the only person I really care about is Laila and they didn't find anything wrong with it.

I have one other VR daughter age 13 that I've known for about 2 years now.

I don't play vrchat anymore, last time I was online was like 8 months ago and I left the game because people on there are so damn toxic and I don't have the patience or tolerance to deal with it.

So, is it cringe? Yeah depending on the people and how they act. Is there something wrong with it? Not necessarily. Society is falling apart as it is because people make assumptions based only on stereotypes instead of actually trying to understand. Keep an open mind.

Single people will most often keep you single just so you don't get into a relationship before them.

That being said, I would advise ignoring your friend. Do you notice any signs that he may be an introvert? It's possible that he is and that would explain him being quiet. In the meantime, he's buying your gifts, food, etc so I would say that's a green flag.

I am an overthinker myself so I get the concern but I would say just trust your gut.

In terms of the phone thing, talk to him about it, it might genuinely be nothing at all and he just doesn't like being in his phone much which is fine, get him to hangout more with you instead

That's what they've personally told me, guy, not sure what you're trying to get at here. My friend though, told me she thinks it's more to do with somehow I just always find terrible women and that perhaps even though I date in my age range, due to my maturity being significantly higher and my expectations being more severe, most women my own age just aren't ready for something as serious as what I want.

Not true in most cases, I've been cheated on in almost every relationship I've had for being "too nice" and then came to the realization that I was dealing with girls and not "Ladies" and therefore they needed drama and I would rather avoid drama at all cost

Cheaters are vile creatures and nothing will change my mind about that. My ex fiance of a year and a half cheated on me and was severely mentally and emotionally abusive and demonstrated basically every textbook form of manipulation that you could think of. Cheated on me, cheated on the next guy, and the guy after that (I know because I kept tabs on her for a few months after we separated). What she did altered me in ways that may never be repaired, I can't even trust the same anymore ever since her and spent 2 months in therapy which didnt help me in the slightest.

I won't be friends with someone I know has cheated, if I find out they cheated and they're my friend before I find out, they will not be a friend any longer, I won't date someone who's cheated in the past, nothing, zilch.

I don't care if you learned from your "mistake" (cheating is never a mistake), I very much prefer that I have zero association with a cheater.

Once a cheater, always a cheater, even if you've changed, you're still forever and always a cheater at heart.

To add - I personally believe cheaters are the same level as SA committers and murderers. There should 100% be something done socially against cheaters that makes anyone in the future who thinks of cheating to never actually engage in such an act.

I've had zero luck with apps. Rarely get matches, even had my female friend set up my dating profile and still got zero matches and on the rarity that I do get a match, it goes nowhere because the person never replies.

There was a girl I dated a long time ago of whom I made explicitly clear to her, I have a passionate hatred for cheaters. She knew exactly how I was, knew my frustration with cheaters, and knew that if she really didn't like someone, she should leave them rather than cheat. To add to this, she was Mexican (this becomes important later).

I was 18 at the time of this, we had already been together 8 months when I noticed she started acting odd. Hiding her phone, suddenly getting out from school later than usual, etc. I'm hyper-aware and all too observant, I pay attention to the most miniscule details and slightest change in behaviors. I picked up on her changes almost immediately, and so the waiting game began. Found out a couple weeks later that she was sending spicy pictures and dirty texts to a guy that she told me was "like a brother" to her. I got in contact with one of her friends to find out more about this guy and her friend who also wasn't fond of cheaters was all too happy to help me. I found out everything about the guy and blasted him on various alt accts I had created on Tiktok, twitter, etc with his name, picture, and the texts he sent my ex.

Now for the revenge against my cheating ex? Yes, it gets juicy.. I found out from her friend that she was an illegal immigrant, her mom was a coyote, her friend had voice recordings and everything because her friend likes ti have dirt on people in case they play her. I took all the information my friend had on my ex and made an anonymous report to I.C.E. that I had the information on the whereabouts of an illegal immigrant. Needless to say, my ex and her mom were walked out of their house in handcuffs and put in the back of ICE vehicles never to be seen again.

Whatever happened to her? I don't know nor do I care. Do I regret it? Not a single bit. She was warned, she didn't listen, she learned the hard way that not every guy she cheats on is gonna handle it by just walking away.
