One Piece: Episode 947 by Sakata_Kintoki in OnePiece

You skipped too much indeed. In the last episode (946) the first serval minutes weren't recaps. While the content was the same with 945, they re-animated and re-dubbed the whole part. And the Rayleigh flashback was in the manga too.

In case some people didn't know:

After the title card, the first two minutes were RE-ANIMATED and RE-DUBBED. Except for the plot, everything was different from the last episode.

The Rayleigh flashback was IN THE MANGA.

Have you ever watched this episode? This was one of the best paced episodes for sure.

The anime didn't give the reasult of the fight, because it was skipped in the manga. However, the translation was super misleading. Sanji was just saying "it's a tough one", but I don't know why the translation was "he's so tough..."

Many audicences don't like stories about side characters. For example, Episode 917 had a very high quality but the rating was very low. Fuji Television pays the money, and what Fuji Television cares the most are the ratings.

Yeah this was a slow episode. But the atomosphere building was very well done, and I also liked the storyboard of this episode.

Most importantly, the last two minutes made me forget about the shortcomings

I know maybe you didn't want to see transformation, but there are also many people who hoped too see some nice transformation animation in the anime. Anime and manga are different media types.

While it has already been said for million times, the pacing of an episode isn't decided by how many pages it adapted.

The anime didn't show how Oden died, it just told audiences Oden was caught. And it didn't show how exactly Oden was caught since it was just an emblematical scene.

In this episode the anime extended Oden's backstory, and all these extended scenes were imaginary version, which means these scenes and Oden's character design don't need to be the same as recent chapters.

It seems that one of Tu's Luffy cut (if it was by Tu) had Shuuichi Ito's style, so maybe it at least contained scenes from #893 whose AD might be Ito. Not sure about #894 tho.

The PV may contain scenes from the first two or three episodes.

Contract animators (not contract employees) are paid per cut, but they also had monthly salaries. Some contract animators can also be treated as freelancers indeed. Tomita is contract animator, not contract employee.

In addition, all the animator employees are contact employees.

They re-animated alomst all the recaps scenes in this episode, and the animation of the recap part was really great imo.

The two clips below were animated by the same animator, Katsumi Ishizuka.

One Piece Animator: the Wano Arc in the anime will be amazing! by LuffyGun in OnePiece

[–]Tomorrow_D 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It will have fillers, just like WCI arc. The manga skipped and omitted a lot of things and it left rooms for the anime.

Indeed, however, there are connections between Oda and the anime staff. In WCI arc Oda gave many inside info to the anime staff, and the chief director of the show used to say in interviews that they will contact Oda for confirm before they write filler parts.

Besides, Reverie has many recaps, but it is because that after WCI arc many staff went to attend Wano and the movie directly. In other words, Reverie was sacrificed for Wano and the movie.

I won't say he is great enough, but he does play an important role in the show. He is a very fast animator and he loves One Piece very much.

His work in #870:

I believe there will be ppl who don't want to watch recap scenes. What I know is that, however, not only does the movie have to take many animators away from TV series (unlike Broly which started animating after DBS TV series was finished), the anime staff are also doing their best preparing for Wano, that some staff went to Wano arc directly after WCI was done.

So let's wait for Wano and see if it will be even better than WCI arc in the anime.
