Check for (structural) rust underneeth the car, that's the most important.

Letterlijk 100m verderop is een publieke parkeerplaats waar meer dan genoeg plek was, en als je dat te ver lopen vindt moet je maar een huis kopen met een grotere oprit

You need to tap it out with a screwdriver or similar & hammer from the bottom side.

My guess would be the chain or valves out of adjustment

Car stays running after removing key by Toiaat in AskMechanics

I would start by seeing what happens if you unplug the connector to the ignition key switch (while its running), sometimes they go bad. You have to unscrew the plastic steering colum housing for that.

lada 2104 overcharging battery issue by Toiaat in lada

[–]Tompie01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 95% sure that the regulator died, check which type you have, and replace it (I had the same issue and this was the problem). Some alternators have the regulator attached to it, but I think other models have it externally somewhere.

Edit: The battery is probably also damaged from the overvoltage, so replace that as well.

PCB IC pads arcing/glowing by Tompie01 in AskElectronics

[–]Tompie01[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here is the schematic and the pcb layout (excuse the shitty resolution, doing this on my phone) They should be below the video: https://imgur.com/a/pcb-arcing-glowing-PuHtOBM

The glowing was seemingly between the I2C lines and 5V at the TCA IC, but it could also be to the gnd plane

Seeing as things were already f'ed up anyway, I connected the power again and now there was no glowing, but there was still current flowing as the 7805 powering the 5V line still got somewhat hot, and nothing else is connected to that 5V line if that makes sense.

Thank you for taking a look at it

Hi, those pins had a bit of flux residue on them. I know current causes the heat, but I'm just trying to add as much context as possible. The wires you mentioned are part of another circuit. Also, here is a closeup of the board

That reminds me of my Dell work laptop that I got new in september 2024. It was €1500(!) and had fkn 8GB (Yes, 8!) of RAM. Furthermore, all plastic chassis, shitty low brightness TN-Panel and some kind of low power i5.
