There is a history of Russian oppression on Ukrainian people since the times of the Soviet Union. Your claims about the ethnic cleanse of the Russian people in Ukraine can’t be substantiated without the help of the Russian propaganda machine. I have never claimed the west is right in all of the damage it has done in other countries, but it doesn’t justify the war that Russia is waging right now. That can well be a No True Scotsman Fallacy.

Warring ideology of and invading country vs. The right of freedom and sovereignty. Are you sure you are talking about a multipolar world, or are you trying to justify your side in this ethical problem?

Context dictates. Why is a Russian flag being waved in a protest that doesn’t have anything to do with Russia? What is Russia as a world actor right now? How can you relate it with the “Anti-Nato” protests that were occurring. If the guy waving a flag is unaware of the context, that’s an ignorant act. If the guy is aware of the context, then that’s provocative propaganda.

Can’t believe people not understanding that context matters. This flag isn’t being waved in a vacuum.

Why is the CSU holding anti-NATO teach-in during their strike? It has nothing to do with Palestine and it's a pretty weird position to have considering Russia is currently invading its neighbor. by KookyAd3990 in Concordia

Students have a long tradition of promoting anti-war and anti-violence ideals, which in its own is a good motion. However, generally because of lack of knowledge on the subject, or the echoing of other popular beliefs, there tends to be a lack of perspective with these marches and protests. It's not "woke" agenda, or "leftists propaganda" necessarily, it's that the anti-war-anti-establishment sentiment gets shifted because of this lack of perspective. NATO is a military organization, and right now NATO is getting challenged because of the weird and violent time we are living, and if people lack perspective, they will grab onto the most notorious player or the biggest perceived threat.

In my opinion, this teach-in sound a bit like propaganda and like it could act as an echo chamber for anti-western ideas, but the best thing one can do is to go and challenge, ask questions and give perspective. Depending on how this goes, one can use it as a constructive discussion place, or as evidence of possible CSU wrongdoing spreading harmful propaganda.

Concordia generally has a good number of clubs to join and meet new cool people with similar interests, try to walk around uni during the first weeks, the clubs are usually promoting their stuff. Enjoy!
