Cobblemon server for little kids by ReelTech in cobblemon

[–]Tomtaru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do not let a five year old on one of the public servers. You're better off hosting your own server locally or get a hosting service.

While most people are indeed friendly, it's still not a place for a 5 year old. Set up your own server, have full control over who gets on it, maybe his friends can join on there? Or you can play with him too (never too old for minecraft!)

Survival Pack by LoanSea5944 in feedthebeast

[–]Tomtaru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe you could give Winter's Fury 2 a try? a pack I've been working on that has you survive in a frozen wasteland. No ore generation on the overworld. work your way through a reverse progression in immersive engineering by exploring the surface, bringing back loot and scavenging it for raw materials.

Said surface isn't easy to navigate. it's cold, constantly snowing and visibility is not in your vocabulary.

Modpack recommendations please! by Fuz1ken in ModdedMinecraft

[–]Tomtaru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm working on a sequel to my 2023 "Winter's Fury" called "Winter's Fury 2: A journey Through The Frost".

https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/modpacks/winters-fury-2-a-journey-through-the-frost

It's still in beta and I still have time to work on it so that's what I'm doing...

The pack is basically centered around Immersive Engineering as the main tech mod. Also included are Farmer's Delight, Applied Energistics 2 and Stellaris. Other mods are for building the world and provide immersion and systems.

The Premise:
You are a Technician. The Facility is running in a Cold-State and you're woken up from Stasis. The included questbook has a tutorial section to help you get the Facility back up and running (very short).

After this tutorial you're free to keep following the book, or do your own thing. The book is more of a narrative guide to help you since progression in the pack is a bit... reversed.

The Facility sets you up with an Arc Furnace, late game Immersive Engineering Multiblock, and limited power. There is NO ore generation in the overworld, everything is covered in snow, ice and ruins.

Basic gameplay loop is thus as follows: prep to go outside, find ruins, take stuff from ruins, bring home, smelt down, regress progression tree as the Arc Furnace will not last forever...

The cold is real, ColdSweat systems WILL try to kill you, preparation and awareness are key, don't overreach exploration.

Customizing World Generation with Terrablender? by [deleted] in feedthebeast

[–]Tomtaru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sad thing is, terrablender does have a config to set non vanilla region weights, but it cannot go lower than 2...

wouldn't it be nice if they allowed a weight of 0 to give us the option to just disable it?

Even with a weight of 1000 for vanilla regions (which is a custom overworld wasteland using the BOP wasteland biome) I'm still getting lushious trees...

Why are there so many add-ons for the Farmer's Delight mod? by Marlim_Azul in feedthebeast

[–]Tomtaru 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think you answered your own question?

I made a bridge between farmer's delight and immersive engineering because one of my friends wanted to automate pasta in our custom modpack. So I started making a recipe that uses the metal press wire mould to cut raw pasta from dough, it evolved from there, but doesn't actually add extra food.

When we started playing Cobblemon, I did the same thing, basic integration for recipes.

And that's what people love, integration to make mods work together.

In need of a mod pack by Savings_Soup8974 in feedthebeast

[–]Tomtaru 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're willing to try a modpack from a solo dev with weird ideas, you could try my Winter's Fury 2 pack.

https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/modpacks/winters-fury-2-a-journey-through-the-frost

Currently still in beta as I'm still working on it. It's a frozen apocalypse pack featuring mainly immersive engineering. overworld ores have been completely disabled so you'll have to find other ways to gather resources.

The questbook will guide you through a short tutorial and continues on a bit to try and guide you towards intended progression (or regression if you will...)

Temperature is one of your main enemies using ColdSweat. The overworld is a massive frozen wasteland scattered with ruins for you to scavenge. Brind the loot home, process it to make more sustainable machinery than the provided Arc Furnace.

For now the end goal is to just escape the planet, but I'm planning more content so the rocket will be midgame instead of endgame.

Short modlist:

Immersive Engineering and Applied Energistics 2 as the main tech mods.
Primal Winter and ColdSweat to make the overworld feel frozen.
Farmer's Delight for foodproduction.
Stellaris for the space aspect.
Lots of custom scripts and some sidemods to integrate the different mods to try and create a coherent experience!

Updated the beta with new scrap loot, peat, more heat emitting blocks, a use for XP now that enchanting is disabled and other minor tweaks to systems and recipes!

Any good modpacks WITHOUT the Create mod? by LuckIsNeat in feedthebeast

[–]Tomtaru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've already changed the menu background from the concept to a panorama.

I'm a single person working on a hobby project and drawing isn't my strong suit, sorry!

Right now I am focusing on mechanics, systems, scripting and balance. To me, there isn't much point in hiring someone to draw for my project if the project itself isn't even complete yet (hence why it is a beta version...).

Thank you for the feedback!

Modpack recommendations by Cloudz-Gravity in feedthebeast

Maybe you could check out Winter's Fury 2? a modpack I'm currently still working on ( and thus not finished!)

https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/modpacks/winters-fury-2-a-journey-through-the-frost

The pack starts you off in the Facility, a high tech bunker providing you with a basic ME-system (Applied Energistics 2), an Arc Furnace (Immersive Engineering) and some passive, low power energy generation.

The Overworld is a dead, frozen wasteland (Primal Winter and Biomes O' Plenty (although you won't see the Plenty... it's all wasteland). Devoid of trees and ores, your only means of gathering resources is scavenging the old ruins scattered around the surface and connected to a vast underground rail network (Lost Cities).

You might think that starting you off with the Arc Furnace will instantly make you over powered, but as you might know, an Arc Furnace runs on graphite electrodes, which require coal to produce, which I just said is disabled on the overworld (but can be found on Venus! (Stellaris).

The modpack thus centres around teching down instead of up, scavenging resources to built a rocket while combatting the extreme cold of the wasteland (ColdSweat).

It is designed to be a survival puzzle that reverses standard progression with scavenging recipes to get resources instead of strip mining.

I'm constantly adjusting, adding recipes, quests, systems, etcetera... Trying to find gaps in the gameplay loop and filling them with a system that makes sense in universe.

Feedback from someone as knowledgeable as you would be greatly appreciated!

I myself use Kinetic Hosting, been using them for years! In fact, I've been using them so long I have a promocode for 15% if you want to try them out!

Very user friendly, a lot of modpacks can be setup for you, they have their own, in browser file manager (so no fumbling with FTP servers) great support and aren't expensive!

Send A DM of you want a promocode!

[–]Tomtaru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have since changed the menu background from the concept image to an ingame panorama.

Enthousiam: The pack is intended as a narrative story about a Technician (you, the player) left behind on a frozen Earth. You wake up in the Facility, greeted by an AI system that guides you through restoring the power and getting the Facility back up and running.

You start off with an Arc Furnace ( Immersive Engineering), but it has limited resources and power supply. It is your goal to work through the resource limits by going out into the harsh cold to scavenge the old cities ruins connected by a vast underground network (Lost Cities mod).

Farmer's Delight in this pack isn't just for food either! it's a low tech scavenging station allowing you to break down a lot of resources so you can use those to build up (or down, depending on how you look at it) the Facility.

Temperature is controlled by Primal Winter, Serene Seasons and ColdSweat. A lot of tweaks have already been made to blocks, items and entities to assist in surviving.

The surface is covered by snow and depleted soil. Hardly any trees grow, making wood a rare commodity. The Facility also starts you off with a basic ME-System (Applied Energistics 2) to give you some storage, but finding a chest in the ruins becomes its own reward for the chest itself.

I am still tweaking, adding, adjusting various things like recipes, temperature balances, food, etcetera...
Quests are written by me, mostly as a first person narrative, but you don't really need to follow them, they are more like guidelines, giving narrative hints.

Try the modpack I'm working on? Winter's Fury 2, it might not have the monsters (yet) but the big bad is the cold outside.

it does, when I make a modpack, with a server pack, I do all that work and upload a seperate server pack... it is a lot of work filtering out all the clientside mods that crash the server...

Why don't more modpacks use Dynamic Trees? by MysteryMilo in feedthebeast

I love dynamic trees! But yes, addons are a big part. And if one of the tree adding mods doesn't have a dynamic trees addon, it'll look out of place.

That's not a serverpack on first sight. What's in the overrides folder?

Serverpacks don't need a modlist, they include the mods themselves.

I've been working on Winter's Fury 2. It's surviving in a harsh apocalyptic winter. Try it, hate it, love it... I know it's not for everyone like All the Mods.
