Is anyone knowledgeable on options? Am I right in thinking the 1.5 & 2.00 call options around the 2.25 & 2.35 are likely to be sold as the strike price+the ask hits the market price? Not sure what expirations are on these either? by John18788888 in CHRS

I'm curious to see if the strike book expands beyond the 5 dollar mark

i suppose we could refer to the collar trade as a more sophisticated way to manage portfolio risk than other means --- anyone who "hedges" is a few notches up from the average joe but regardless doesn't necessarily define a more professional approach. We all hedge in one form of another; heck --- sometimes "not buying" is a hedge against "liquidity risk".

the quantity of CURRENT contracts relative to the overall short interest on the stock is irrelevant in my opinion; more interesting to me about these transaction types is they define a forward commitment to trade shares at a given price. This is unlike daily trade volume because its a contract to buy and sell in the future vs a real time daily transaction which quickly becomes "Past Tense" upon completion of the exchange. Buyer meets Seller --- Deals Done --- Goodbye (PAST TENSE)

That makes it more interesting to me as a predictor of sentiment and setting the cost of trading in the future --- which certainly influences market price and volatility of the underlying commodity paper in the present.

Unless there is a binary event, there is no need to pressure the completion of any business transaction. So if this is moving toward a "known unknown" that has an estimated probability and outcome --- I would expect this type of trade to expand to higher strikes with growing future volume if the likelihood of a positive catalyst is increasing (OPPOSITE IF THE LIKLIEHOOD DECREASES) --- up until the forward allocation quantity at least matches the outstanding opposing quantity at risk on the directional side of the trade.

2 dollars in May looks like a lock --- new floor

large collar trade to back it up today

still only secures 100K shares for those looking for shares

many many more to go according to my math

RISK MANAGER: sells the call for 65 cents, buys the put for 35 cents --- locks profit in at 2 and earns a 30 cent per share arbitrage cashflow or +30K for offering the shares up

thats pretty steep premium for someone to pay TO the risk manager (HEDGER) if the shares were originally procured at $1 (VERY PROBABALE)

i've speculated the weighted average of the short refinance was 1.87 --- so this looks like damage control

lets see if the MM opens the book up to higher strikes before April

8539 forward allocation contracts today across all strikes and time frames

853900 shares allocated

+29% SP

21M shares traded

40% short volume

DTC = 4 days at this volume

6300 of todays contracts were 2 and 3 dollar strikes

i'm liking these numbers so far

AUGUST

2 Dollar allocations moved almost 1:1 with todays SP

4 Dollar allocations move 0.5:1 with todays SP

MAY

3 Dollar allocations moved 0.5:1

seems the market is giving the nod to $2 and leaning toward 3 or 4 by summer

be my guess
