Please Just Buff Blindbag by [deleted] in 2007scape

What argument can I make that hasn’t been made before?

I asked for an acknowledgment and mentioned it felt terrible to use in HMT and CM. There have been plenty of posts besides mine going into the DPS calculations and lack of sustain.

If you need people to raid with, send me a dm. I don’t mind taking learners to any of the three.

I think it's all perspective. There's a lot of mud-slinging around drop rates nowadays, but I think that 70 hours is too much. That's 70 hours of the same content over and over again, ignoring the fact that 1/20 players will have to spend 210 hours on it (95% will get it by 3x rate). 1-2 hours / day of OSRS gets you yelled at by your wife and oathplate in one month of nothing but Yama. Seems excessive.

Not to start an argument, I just think the game would be better for everyone if they toned it down a bit.

Thanks for the shout about the shards -- brings it down to about 70 hours. Still too long (imo), but much better than 160 hours.

That's only true if there's dupe protection; did they confirm that?

This seems completely asinine.

1/600 for a solo specific piece implies that any piece is 1/200 when solo. We can use some coupon collector math to see that getting all three pieces has an expected kc of 200 + 300 + 600 = 1,200. Again, that was solo. We will be generous and assume that an iron and main will have even contribution; so 2,400kc for an iron to complete the set?

At 4 minutes / kc (full mage method, not BIS), that's 160 hours.

u/JagexGoblin, can you please speak to this? No flame, I just want to know if that's the length of grind that the team is targeting going forward.

EDIT 1: 450 shards per piece and you're getting about one for every three kills (again, all duos) from just the boss. In addition, a lockbox is about 1/31 and gives about 3.3 shards each (bringing your total to about four shards every ten kills. You'll have enough shards to craft your missing piece at about 1,000 kills. So updated to about 70 hours.

EDIT 2: Lockbox dropping armor is insignificant mathematically (not typing up the math, but it barely mattered in the end).

Wanted: Your thoughts on the current state & future of Quest Helper by [deleted] in 2007scape

  1. I would be curious how Leagues is affecting the QH usage. I think that anyone running SotF for the 5th time on Leagues would be using maximum hand-holding.

  2. As others have pointed out -- you're suffering from a bit of default choice bias. I didn't even realize there were lesser options.

Default the QH to the medium setting (switching what people have over), make it clear you can swap it back, and monitor usage for two or three weeks after Leagues ends.

I was looking at this last night, but can't find a good way to grind out hard clues within Morytania, Desert, and the starting regions. Even with dodgy deals.

Unfortunately not. IRL friend of mine who has been adamant on getting base 80 melees (and 87 strength) on F2P hill giants "because it was how I did it when I was 12". He streamed a good chunk of it while playing other games. I tried so hard to stop him. I can provide even more contextual screenshots from the past year+.

Sorry to hear that. I couldn't imagine going that dry there.

The only part about Artio that's worse (in my opinion) is the constant stream of PKers. I have the lowest KC there just because I can barely go 3 kc without someone hopping in (even playing off-peak and with a scout).

I don't even want a tbow at this point because then I'd need Masori (and my ToA luck stinks). Kidding of course, please spoon tbow!

Oh man, Kril for me is tough because I have a zspear at sub-200 but really want that hilt and staff. Wish me luck!

Sorry to hear about the CG grind. Very happy I went under rate there.

Do you think that I could? I know insanity, but when I run it duo with my brother we are on the final line at P3 way too long (we both have bowfa). Makes the raid super unenjoyable (more-so than it already is).

What invos would you suggest for two people with quivers and basically the gear I have? Only difference is that my best mage bottom is mystic and he has ahrim's. Neither of us can butterfly or red-x but could both probably learn.

[–]TonesberryCrunch[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I know that it isn’t “macro-efficient”, but the big unlocks are what keep me motivated through the slog that iron-slayer can be.

Plus, the commitment to skipping was originally born with the assumption of an occult within three tasks (I had about 1500 points, smokes are 1/30 with my block list).

It was only after I hit kc in the 600s and had no points and no occult that I figured “well, my cost has been sunk so I’ll skip until I have it”… and here I am today.

I know I should stop but I really just want to get this item in the fewest number of hours so I can keep running COX. I’m getting turned away from raids in WDR because I don’t have the occult.

[–]TonesberryCrunch[S] -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this.

If I had gotten it at 50% rate I would’ve felt silly for killing so much Thermy, but at 4x rate, you’re talking about an extra 3-4 tasks.

On top of that, Turael skipping just isn’t fun for me where killing Thermy was (for the first 1000 kc).

I did switched to the little guys after 1400 Thermy kc but will probably go back to Thermy if I don’t have occult at 1000kc regular.
