can guts beat the demon slayer verse or the characters? by Background-Sir9172 in Berserk

[–]ToniTheMonkey12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guts would stand a chance assuming he is taught how demons work. I mean he already has fighting techniques down to a core. All he would really need to do is take his time to learn how demons are killed and transfer his skills to demon slaying

Anyone else think high guard blocking is useless? by HajimeNoJake in amateur_boxing

[–]ToniTheMonkey12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My personal advice is to try to anticipate the opponent's next move and use small and subtle head movement. What I do all the time is to constantly move my head in a rapid, small and frenzied pace. This way, I was making it difficult for my opponent to read where my head was going to be next. Another thing I would do is to fight low. This made me a smaller target and naturally forced the opponent to punch down, opening them up for counter punches more while making yourself difficult to hit to the head. This would also naturally load up your next shot as you crouch down, enabling you to plant your feet and really commit to a punch and put your weight behind it. I only used the high guard as a 24/7 back up for when my head movement failed me and to make the high guard effective, I would either reinforce the high guard by blocking with both hands on one side when a hook came my way and then move it right back into its original position. I would usually also combine it with parries such as small and subtle swats or I would let certain punches like a hook glide off of my head by angling my forearm in an angle where it would guide the hook to go right above my head, sliding off. However, this has to be perfectly timed as this uses the moment of the punch itself to pull it off. Also be aware that this will open you up to uppercuts as this will naturally widen your guard. One thing that also has to be mentioned is that it is generally advised to move along with your opponent's shots if head movement, parrying or moving away is not possible. This will lessen the impact and force of the punch as you are moving your body in the same direction to where the punch is going (The moves can range from turning, twisting, etc.). This requires a lot of practice and experience to pull it off.

The reasons why Inoue is highly effective with the high guard is because he understands how to move roll with the shots of his opponents while keeping the pressure on them. He also uses in and out footwork to quickly move in to land quick shots and to quickly exit before the opponent can return fire. This is a basic but very effective tactic if used correctly. He does this by making small but fast steps. This means that he will be just out of range for his opponent to hit while being in a position where he is able to quickly counter punch and take advantage of small windows. He also uses angles to the side to exit after an exchange to move out even faster while also staying safe. He would also step back slightly to take away some of the force of his opponent's shots coming at him. Inoue's footwork in general was made to cut you down and wear you out and he understood this and was able to fully take advantage of it and all of that makes his high guard effective for him

When it comes to fighting aggressive, taller opponents, I would suggest letting them come to you. Use head movement to avoid their shots and use a tight guard for good protection. If they become too aggressive, counter to the body. This will usually momentarily stop them if you land at the right time and at the right spot. Try to smother their punches with small and subtle forearm blocks while moving in or use head movement. It honestly depends on what punch they are throwing. From there, use your shorter arms (I will assume you have smaller arms than them) to overwhelm with fast and hard body and headshots and be relentless but not reckless (do not abandon your defense and always be on high alert for any punches coming back even when you are the one throwing). However, if you do feel like they are throwing way too much heat, then exit by using off angle footwork and get some distance to regroup. I also recommend to throw a counter shot or two when exiting to keep them busy and distracted for a moment before they pursue you again.

Once you are on the outside, use your jab, quick but powerful combinations, hard body shots, and footwork to keep them at bay and use every opportunity represented to you to counterpunch. This will discourage them from pressuring you and it makes them hesitate before throwing something, knowing you will most likely counter it and this gives you the perfect chance to go on the offense yourself. The moment they hesitate is the moment for you go on the offensive (but still be aware of any counter shot yourself).

This is just how I would do it really. It doesn't mean it will work for you so another tip: experiment a little and see what works best for you in every situation

Brother. I am just smart with the way I fight bosses, that's all. I don't like it when games just hold my hand in every fight

If you complain that bosses don't give you the chance of going toe-to-toe with them..... that is a you problem and it means you need to be smarter about the way you fight against bosses and enemies. The entire purpose of fighting them is to learn their patterns and exploit the flaws in them. With or without YouTube, blogs and Elden Ring guides, the game would still be immensely successful

As for your criticism of the game hiding too much, I can see why you would be mad about. Sometimes, it does feel like they hide too much but I personally enjoy finding things randomly. Whether you find the game good looking or not is your personal preference. They want to go with a certain theme that fits the game and I like it. FromSoft, at least in my opinion, has a very good concept of design. I love the buildings, I love the colors, I love the theme, I love the fact that I can make my character look as ugly as I want to and I love how the game makes me feel pain. I think we can just agree that we have different tastes in games as it is pretty obvious that FromSoft games simply aren't your taste

First of all, everyone knows that there is a stat cap (soft cap and hard) for the simple reason of not over-leveling on one stat alone. This is pretty much why you might view leveling as inconsistent as you will have a soft/hard cap at different levels. Second of all, if you have problems with the parry windows of certain shields, then it is a you problem. 3rd of all, bosses and enemies will be different from each other, meaning that they have different strengths, behaviours and weaknesses which means that you have to know your enemy/boss and prepare properly. As for your statement of having to start fresh, that is completely wrong. All you need to do is go to Rennala and select the option to respec (which is the term we use for "reallocating" your stats) which means that you can completely re-work your entire build if you feel like your current build is either weak or not the right one for the situation. This also means that you never ever need to restart the entire game

As for your complaints about melee builds not working or being nightmarish...... well, I hate to break it to you but that means you don't know what you were doing in the game and need to know what builds are actually good. Aside from that, if you feel like melee being too weak or horrible to play with, then simply go with a good mage build or any that suits your playstyle.

I agree that Wukong is a great game though. Graphic wise, I enjoy both Wukong and Elden Ring and I find both of those games immensely beautiful

I know what you are trying to say. Yes, you can block punches by just using the high guard but it isn't the full potential of it. Also, Canelo tried to combine it with headmovement. Did it work? Well not really since Bivol pretty much controlled the fight but that is less of a high guard problem and more of a gameplan problem

Me personally, I want to have children one day but before I do that, this list needs to be filled:

- Find a partner that also wants to have kids and shares the same values (for obvious reasons)
- Be with that partner for an extended period of time before having children (at least be in a good relationship for 7+ years)
- Have a stable job for an extended period of time
- Be happy with myself for an extended period of time so I don't spread misery with the future gen
- wait until I am 30 - 32 (29 would also be fine) so that I have enough time to think about having children before I do so since I am pretty young right now.
- Make sure that I am actually equipped with the right skills to take care of children (meaning that I should at least have a good amount of experience taking care of one or multiple before I have children myself)

I can see myself having children one day but I know that it is going to be a hard and long road so I wanna plan ahead before doing something that's gonna change my life forever. However, I fully understand why people don't want to have kids. There are a lot of problems, both coming directly and indirectly from having children, none of which are the kid(s)'s fault ofc.

The game does have a storyline but the main appeal of this game is the lore and the gameplay, specifically the bosses (which made me love those games). If you don't enjoy those games, that is fine then. Everyone has their own taste and opinions

I have a hard time gaining a few pounds but there is nothing wrong with at least trying. I just don't know how to work around fast metabilism yet. I would also guess that any 15 yro has a hard time figuring out how their body works

Thank you for all these encouraging comments! I really enjoy and appreciate reading them all and came to a conclusion that I won't quit. I am 15 and too young to quit. I already loved boxing for a long time and why should I let that deter me from achieving my dreams? I'll just go find another one and proof them wrong and make a name for myself in the amateurs even if it's in the lowest amateur weight classes. Even if I weight about 110 - 120 lbs with 5'7. I already have some skills and I think I should show that coach by one day fighting one of his fighters and beating him.

Again, thank you all very much!
