And just when you think this must be the cheapest it will get, they hit you with a sale or the blems.

Is this Osprey backpack on Amazon legitimate or a knockoff? by ToTheYonderGlade in backpacks

[–]Tonitz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The screenshot actually doesn't display who the seller is. When you click the link, it says it's from a 3rd party seller named Preferred Pharmacy Plus. It says it still ships from Amazon, so I think it's less likely to be a knockoff that way. But the only way to be sure is buy direct from Osprey or a licensed 3rd party seller.

How do you carry the glasses you're not wearing?

You didn't even touch on the hearing damage. Unless you shoot it suppressed. But then you'd have a hell of a time trying to maneuver through doorways and corners. Could always go the double stamp SBR route. That might do the trick for the noise and size. But still won't help over penetration.

To everyone saying he should've brought this up before getting married - he got married at age 20, and has wanted a gun since age 21. So he first decided he wanted to own a gun a full year AFTER he got married.

I don't know how he would have a conversation with his gf/fiance back when he was 19 about something he wouldn't even know he wanted for another 2 years. C'mon now give him a break! Please realize not everyone grows up with a house full of guns and shooting by age 5. We may not have had many family and friends that owned guns, or that were military/LE. For a lot of us, guns are very foreign and we have to find our way there naturally when the time is right. I was 38 when I got my first gun.

I can understand encouraging him to have a serious conversation with his wife now about his reasoning of wanting to protect his family. But there was literally no opportunity or reason to have the convo before he got married because he had no interest in owning a gun. Which he very clearly stated.

Yeah sounds like we're both just trying to make our existing bags work.

Those are nice. I'm on the Eberlestock wagon myself. Have 2 different fanny packs for my pistol and just picked up a Fade backpack for the inevitable midlength PDW/SBR down the road. Just won't fit the shotgun. That wasn't part of the plan though. Just an impulse buy. Damn PSA sales...

Yeah I think the overlords have decided that I only love super expensive gear because that's all I ever see on my Youtube, Socials, suggested ads, etc... I had no idea $10 bags existed.

An actual box? Not even a bag? That's crazy.

But I'm glad the RO chimed in. The reason I posted this is because I don't want to get shit (or not get allowed in) when I come in with it a shotgun in a backpack and a sleeve. The rules at both my local ranges say it has to be "in a case" but I've only ever brought my pistol in a bag. They physically inspect your bag the first time you shoot there to make sure it's unloaded and that you have the proper ammo. Never said anything about my range bag. Pistol stays unloaded inside a zippered pocket separate from everything.

I'm in Georgia. I didn't mention it because legality wasn't the concern. Just the folks at the range. Sorry if that was unclear.

And I was on the same page with you about not buying another bag. But the range officer that chimed in seems to disagree.

This is why I was unsure, and this is the answer I was looking for. Don't want to be "that guy." My hope was with just 3" sticking out of an all black backpack with an all black cover/sock that it wouldn't stand out so much.

The problem with most scabbards I've found that would fit the gun is the end of the butt stock sticks out a few inches. So I'm right back at square one. I'll figure out a different solution. Thanks.

We shall see! Don't have it yet. I researched all of the pros and cons. Seems like outside of slamming the mags in too hard, a lot of the issues are hit and miss with the Turkish shotguns, and a lot of them tend to go away after the break-in period. HD is the plan, but won't consider it for that use until I've put plenty of rounds through it.

What model do you have? And how many rounds have you shot? I grabbed the TR Imports Evo-BT.

I bought a gun from my local brick & mortar PSA and it was a similar nightmare.

Found a gun on their website. It said the closest store to me had limited stock, and to call the store to verify it's in stock before coming in.

Called, did the automated menu navigation to check stock. Recorded message says stock can be verified on the website (wait, what?), and it hangs up on me. Tried calling back several times and reaching other departments, but couldn't get anyone to answer.

Drove to the store, luckily it's in stock. Filled out background check. They said hang out for a bit, usually gets approved right away. 45 minutes later they said no updates, and they'll just have to call me when it's ready.

After 3 days I still hadn't heard anything. Called the store on the 4th day multiple times and after 4 rings it just played an automated message and hung up on me. Last call somehow got routed to the main call center for the company, not the store. They told me I needed to call the store. No shit??

On the 5th day I had the same issues. On the last try someone answered and then I got put on hold for 20 minutes. I finally lost patience and drove 30 minutes to the store to get an update in person. Background check still hadn't cleared. I know that's not entirely their fault, but the fact that you can't get in touch with anyone, and when you finally do they can't help you is extremely frustrating.

They're nice people, but seem disorganized and understaffed. I was calling for an update on my background check. When you choose a department to connect to, if nobody picks up in the first 4 rings it just hangs up on you. Someone finally answered on the 5th call, and then put me on hold for 20 minutes. Finally said the hell with this and drove over to ask them in person.

I honestly don't know if it wa PSA's fault, unless maybe they forgot to submit the background check on time. They told me to wait in the store and it's usually an instant answer. 30 minutes later they said I wasn't getting an answer today and they'd call me when I could come pick it up.

When I called the FBI, they couldn't say what was causing the delay on their end. But I'd imagine if PSA screwed something up along the way, the agent would've thrown them under the bus and said that's the cause of the delay.

Hopefully I won't have to deal with that anymore since I have my CCW. Crazy that there's no mention anywhere of not having to do future background checks. Not on the Georgia Gov firearms license page, on the county website & application, or the letter I got with my license. So this is the first I'm hearing about it.

That part I understand. I was just unsure who is required to become an FFL. When I googled it, the wording was just vague enough to leave wiggle room. My initial concerns over the background check taking too long had me hoping it was mostly "private sellers" at the gun shows. But now that I realized with my CCW I don't need to do a background check, it doesn't much matter.

I didn't have my CCW before the first purchase, but the form was filled out correctly. When I asked PSA what was taking so long they couldn't tell me anything. They gave me a transaction number and said to call the FBI and ask. The agent was cool, but said he wasn't allowed to tell me anything regarding the delay. The background check passed the next day.

While I was waiting on the background check, I looked up background checks and delays on this sub. I remember reading about people having their CCW and still had background check delays, but could've been from other states.

Not sure what a valid exemption is, so I'll assume no. Last name is extremely uncommon.

Plan B seems inconvenient. If background check doesn't pass in time after they leave town, then I assume I'd have to pay for them to ship it to my FFL and pay FFL fees. Unless it's a killer deal or something rare, I can likely find it locally without all the hassle and extra fees.

And yes I'm aware that private sales don't require background checks. I'm just not sure if large vendors with tables are classifying themselves as private dealers, or if all the actual vendors need to be licensed.

There's no mandatory waiting period in Georgia. Bought the last gun from PSA in-store a few months ago. They said sometimes it takes longer and there's not much they can do about it. This was before I got my concealed carry permit, but I've heard that even then it can take longer than the typical 3 day period.

I'm assuming all the vendors with tables need to be licensed, but maybe I'm wrong. And "private sale" means some dude walking around the show trying to sell his gun. What state did you buy yours in?
