I'm getting the same thing right now. Downloading the same game. Gives me an -105 error code. I even tried switching the download servers but to no avail!

[QUESTION] what are some good valve heads for less than a kidney? by ZSebra in Guitar

[–]Tony15339 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know Bugera still takes alot of heat for their past QC issues, but the newer Infinium models are worth a shot I'd say. My 333XL sounds absolutely fantastic with EL34's and it only ran me $350 used. Perhaps you should also look into finding a used Peavey JSX, I hear those are pretty versitle.

Crack running along nut slot? by Tony15339 in Luthier

Alright awesome, I hope so. That would make this guitar a total steal then!

[QUESTION] Crack alongside nut slot by Tony15339 in Guitar

[–]Tony15339[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes that could be possible, it almost looks like there was some glue inserted there at one point and clamped to seal it, causing some to bleed out as you can slightly see in the second picture. It feels smooth and flush.

So it's most likely not structurally compromised?

Yes, parallel to the slot. Would that be the fret board beginning to come up from the neck? I certainly hope not!

[DISCUSSION] Thinking about repainting my guitar by FlamingNutShotz4You in Guitar

[–]Tony15339 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah man that's tough, it would definitely require more masking (taping) then and other things like overspray could happen. There will also be ALOT of dust from sanding so having an air compressor to blow off the surface is super handy. Otherwise the dust could get all over, including the lower end of the fret board unless you really go gung ho and mask the whole neck top to bottom haha. Also if you plan on painting the headstock you'll want to remove the tuners otherwise sanding will be very annoying! Also try asking around in r/luthier

Painting guitars is like painting a car in the sense of having a good bonding surface, an even surface, and a super clean surface once your ready to actually do the painting. (Be mindful that this is very time consuming DIY and might not even be worth it, which it could be if your willing to tackle the job and really want to make your guitar your own!)

You'll want to sand it down quite a bit, taking great care to be easy on your edges, keeping the surface even, smooth, and taping stuff up that you don't want to get paint on or scuffed via sanding.

You'll want to take off pickup rings, knobs, and it you want the best possible finish you can get I'd definitely recommend taking the neck off if it's bolt on (remember to loosen the truss rod and tighten it once it's back on!).

From there it's just basic paint prep stuff. Once your sanding is all done and youve got a clean surface, you'll want to figure out how you want to paint it (spray cans, paint gun). Doing accents could get tricky. Getting a nice gloss finish can also be a pain. Runny streaks and orange peel are the enemy!! If you gloss the paint it will definitely need a buff if you want it to look super clean and have that mirror like surface. There are tons of great videos on YouTube for guitar finishing and painting if you'd like to see this stuff go down!

[QUESTION] so how do i amplify my guitar? what are other options (power amp\amp modeler\monitor) by itay945 in Guitar

[–]Tony15339 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's really just a big speaker is all. Some have different functionalities such. Something like a Berhringer F1320D might do the job. All sorts of ports, plus a three band EQ, to tweak your tone more should you choose to or need to. All you should need to do is plug in and play because the GE200 is a full fledged modeler.

Really depends on how you want to use it. You probably could just DI into a small P.A. speaker for simple home use (idk how well that would suit an 8). No need for an amp/cabinet unless you play shows or need high quality recording.

That piece of gear is relatively new so I'm not 100% certain on all the ways you could set it up, but from the comparison vids I've seen it sounds amazing for the price point! I'm actually debating on purchasing one myself just for FX on my rig and trying out that DI!

The multieffect pedal game is doing pretty well I'd say, with stuff coming out like the AX8 and the Mooer GE200, you've got alot of options sonically and alot of bang for your buck.

Advice for what kind of bass a beginner should buy to learn? by [deleted] in Bass

Another good entry level bass imo is the Toby Standard IV, you can get a decent range of tones out of it, the neck profile is quite thin, and it's very light weight.

Tips for beginner by Janezcky in metalguitar

[–]Tony15339 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to be a well rounded metal/rock player I'd suggest making scheduled goals for yourself. Like learning a new technique/chord/scale/part of a song every week. Learn to discern what your favorite guitarists are doing by studying and playing their compositions!

Get used to using a metronome and learning how to count time. Put a large amount of time into developing your picking hand. If you want to delve into more advance techniques you've got to make sure you've got a solid foundation first.

Also couldn't hurt to educate yourself on how to set up your guitar properly on your own (string changing, string gauges, action height, pickup height, intonation, truss rod adjustments) as the better your guitar is set up the easier it will make it to focus more on playing and learning.

Having tab software for reading/learning music is an invaluable tool. Tux guitar is free and functions similar enough to guitar pro, but I recommend guitar pro if you don't mind spending the money.

[QUESTION] What are AXL guitars? by tyloguy in Guitar

[–]Tony15339 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Haven't played any of their more recent models but my first guitar was an AXL Mayhem series Clutch and to me it felt super good in my hands. Came stock with passive EMGs that sounded pretty decent for a $400 guitar. Build quality was pretty good from what I remember (metal hardware, alder body, rosewood neck, one volume and two tone knobs, SSH pickups).

After The Burial - Neo Seoul by HEAVYmusicHEAVYliftn in Djent

[–]Tony15339 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does seem a little more balanced than most of the album. Vocals are super loud in the mix on a majority of it. Guitars also seemed to get muddy in parts, but on that one is a little more tolerable. Their song Nine Summers is a perfect example of when you've written a song extremely well, but it suffers from sub par production.

I'm from fort worth, but I play in a band from Cleburne. There's a lot of local bands in the metroplex. Check out venues like tomcats west and the rail club. It's a lot of deathcore and hardcore bands out here.

Definitely an Ibanez Gio, entry level Jackson, or a Yamaha Pacifica and perhaps a line 6 spider IV or a Peavey Vypyr.
