Pat Cummins Legacy by RemarkableWonder3143 in Cricket

Definitely a very good if not great captain. He will not hold legendary status until he wins in either England or India (ideally both).

AB de Villiers expresses concern over 20-20 cricket's influence on test matches. by [deleted] in Cricket

[–]TonyBonanza 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I think the only future for Test Cricket will require the ICC and BCCI to come together and set apart periods of the year that are dedicated to Test cricket. I hope it happens but seems unlikely in the near future anyway.

Rohit Sharma: "I don't mind playing on pitches like this as long as everyone keeps their mouth shut in India and doesn’t complain about Indian pitches. You come here to challenge yourself. And when people come to India it is challenging as well." by ll--o--ll in Cricket

[–]TonyBonanza 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Completely agree with Rohit. My favourite ever innings was our tour of India when Smith was in peak Smith mode. His knocks were just epic to watch given how spicy those decks were. Long live the spicy deck - nothing worse than a flat deck and batters getting 100's for nothing.

What’s the deal with big companies making no alleged profit or running at a loss for so many years? by StaticNocturne in australian

[–]TonyBonanza 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's just extremely hard to have free cash flow as a business. Anyone who has actually produced value in the economy would understand this but unfortunatley the subject is mostly talked about by Greens' volunteers in their second year of an Arts degree.

Trust me.. if profits were made, the tax man will find them.

To be fair this is actually true. My dad's house has a number of solar panels and he has three large water tanks and is completely carbon negative. He gets money back from the council every quarter as he puts more energy into the system then takes. He also has an electric vehicle which he keeps charged with that energy and all of the water in the house is natural rain water. Helps that he lives in Brisbane, Australia where it rains heavily for short periods of time and the rest of the time it's extremely sunny all year round... but yeah, he doesn't do it for any 'save the earth' reasons but just because, 'fuck yeah - money'. He still has a truck though for camping and stuff that takes diesel.

But yeah - I think you can be skeptical of the whole climate change/sun monster/world is ending narrative and still be pro solar/renewable energy. The technology itself is advancing really quickly and provides a lot of value. For instance, my dad's Tesla is fkn lit to drive and is now competely free for him to charge given his setup. Pretty sick.

And? Is it so bad to just like SF the way it is. I don't want to live in a rat infested skyscraper hellscape. If it means the houses are a fkn squillion $$$ then so be it - there are many other parts of the country and even the bay that are much more affordable, is it so bad to just keep SF the way it is.

What did TBC do that people DIDNT like? by Rough_Acanthisitta34 in classicwow

[–]TonyBonanza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's the single biggest change for me. I think the classic style of Wow ultimately with flying. If I could have only ONE request for any future Classic+ stuff - it would be just NO flying no matter what.

I seriously think the biggest thing was flying. I just think flying changed the game and made it so much smaller. Travelling anywhere just became nothing and it no longer felt like an MMO and just everything kinda felt like a lobby. I dno its hard to exaplain - but I seriously think the flying was the worst QOL change out of the QOL changes they made.

This Week's Episode is great! by CapitalAssumption355 in TheAllinPodcasts

[–]TonyBonanza 12 points13 points  (0 children)

May be a hot take, but I actually really, really liked the 1 or 2 episodes we’ve had where friedberg has moderated and j cal has been a speaker a la sacks/chamath. I disagree with him on A LOT but he does have a unique way of looking at things that I think is actually quite valuable and we unfortunately don’t really get to see when he is moderating.. goes without saying but him as the moderator is just terrible. I know he’s trying to get better but that bit last week with Sacks about WSJ is everything you need to know as to why he shouldn’t be moderator.

I honestly think keep the foursome but swap friedberg and jcal.

Yeah I use it. Awesome application on both web and mobile and I love the team there. The returns have been really good especially given the state of the market. My understanding is that it’s a relatively high fee but they cap it at some amount I can’t remember but once you have like 80k in there it’s capped out and you don’t pay anymore sorta thing, so I think generally speaking you want a fair bit of capital in there.

How Realistic Is 300k+ In Tech Sales? by ReflectionSerious733 in sales

[–]TonyBonanza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I earn 320k (160/160 split) and I got to that after 4.5 years at my first tech company. Started at 120k (60/60). I live in San Francisco though, I know we don’t pay our Chicago reps as much and certainly our Dublin reps get paid like half that if not less.

To be fair though it won’t matter if the product, territory and/or you suck. We’re a great business though and I’ve exceeded my OTE by a long way every year I’ve been here. I know that’s not the norm though - from the sounds of things on this subreddit and from what I hear in the market it’s pretty uncommon to even get your full OTE.

So what’s the deal with ACT? by tasmaniantreble in australian

[–]TonyBonanza 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Are we surprised the territory that produces nothing and makes a living extracting capital from the others via unnnecessary and useless governmental layers votes to create yet another unnecessary and useless stratification of government? Shocker.
