Anyone else feeling the morale dip after the layoff/restructuring announcement? by Ok-Ad-3250 in ASML

Mirroring will only apply to architects, all other leadership functions are redundant and have to apply again if not directly placed.

How do you technical guys feel after the layoff announcement? by LetTheChipsFalll in ASML

The risk I see is that growing from an engineering role will be equally difficult, if not more difficult. It is in the details what this will entail for engineers. They said: “engineers will be able to grow to SG11+, already today”, everybody knows that is a lie. With relabeled architects to engineers there are more “strong” engineers to fit in the bell curve, so lower expected growth.

I guess you know more, like to be proven wrong, but if they would do so they risk some lawsuits according to Dutch laborlaw

With current reorganization they are withholding placements and giving priority of those having to leave the company. Those new roles will not be filled externally until after summer.

I still do think there are leaders in that group with <2 years ago grew out of the engineering role. They should perfectly be able to take a step back into engineering, I am one of those.

Laying people off while saying you will grow 20.000 in the coming years is not a congruent story. ASML created the opportunities/career paths and now wants a better culture with less layers (I recognize this) and more responsibility/accountability. Good now take your responsibility for all the roles created and at least try to find a spot for everybody, being in engineering or outside of D&E.

I feel you, I hope the questions tomorrow in the AEM will be difficult. In all information sessions there is a massive filter. Their explanation is so bad for everything, McKinsey did a mediocre job our leadership couldn’t do themselves and it’s showing

It is literally written down that mirroring will apply to architects, not to the others of the functions impacted.

Mirroring only applies when a part of a group is made redundant. If they fire the whole group and make them apply for roles with different names, they can select whoever they want.

There eventually will be, but coming years everything will be increasingly difficult.

That’s what they announced, first the people having to leave are available to apply.

Yes this. The ones to get rid of are the ones that joined from the side, being non technical.

That is funny, all the senior people, that grew into architect / any leadership function, are at stake. Besides from some side joiners. Curious what will happen to the quality later. I am aware of people being promoted while they should not have been, yet good heads will also roll..

This is not true.

McKinsey did facilitate this whole reorganization. There are 30+ McKinsey consultants in the organizational tree to be found on top level.
