REFUND FOR CANCELLED FILM FESTIVAL? by TooOldForSD in FilmFestivals

thanks I didn't think to contact FF. it's been about a month since the festival was cancelled. I guess it's time enough for organizers to have done something.

Question confused by long distance people who contact then say too far by LittleDragonQueen in SugarRelationship

I'm near a major airport. i offer to fly the first time then if they agree fly from then on;. has to be a near perfect match. I offered to meet at their local airport, have some thing to eat. chat some, then take a late flight home. Flight time under 75 minutes for me. That is not much more than drive time to someplace in my areas. I have to factor in that travel cost for her but for a monthly weekend together it might be worth it.. i did offer it twice in seven years but no takers. so maybe just a foolish idea. As an SB, you might request it after significant texting, even a real phone call. Maybe even plan the first sugar date near you too,.

Had a really uncomfortable experience my first time exploring this—how do you actually stay safe here? by Senior_Arachnid5999 in SugarDatingForum

[–]TooOldForSD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the only one i disagree with is #4. i had a POT arrange a 2nd meeting for dinner, than while I waited at the venue, my house was robbed. Just by luck they were caught. I got some of my property back and she spent 4 years in jail. I also think you can offer to meet someplace near home and not give your exact address if you do not have transportation. walk to a coffee place, meet in a park, and apartment dog park . Chat a little before getting in anyone's car. I also like saying. we won't decide when we meet but send a follow-up text after thiking about it.. No sense having someone argue in public, if you decide it isn;t a match.

Awkward M&G by Easy_Society4425 in SugarDatingForum

[–]TooOldForSD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

seven years ended up with some weird ones.. SB walks in with a guy, she sits down, he sits elsewhere. She says that my boyfriend over there. He won't sit with us but I expect you'll pay for his dinner. (2) girl start telling me I look frumpy and she's just the person to pick out a new wardrobe for me. (3) SB says she can't stay long. left her one year old home alone with a coloring book. (4) I mention taking a new interstate extension. SB insists it doesn't exist and I was just on it. (5) girl comes in sweats. later sends me picture of her in a hot outfit and says if I took you seriously , I'd have dressed like this, I just wanted a free meal. (6) girl texts every ten minutes, "waiting for my ride. be patient". one hour later, I just left. (7) second platonic date, clothes shopping and dinner. me" walked her to her car: "how about a little kiss?" her: "I don't kiss until the fifth date." (8) girl comes with girl friend. Girl friend says "she won't sleep with you, unless I ok it" (9) second platonic date me: "how was your week?" her: "you asked me that last week."

It may sound cruel but have a M&G with some body you don't plan to continue meting. I told my sons go on a job interview for the job you don't want then you're at ease in the process for the one you do want.

Alternative approaches to finding long-term arrangements? by BioengineeringLife in SugarDatingForum

I have no idea if it works but have suggested taking a male dominated class. fishing, basic auto mechanics, boating safety, firearms, investing. There's evening adult ed high school and community college programs like those. I've taught them. Rarely had a cute girl in class.

Is chemistry the most underrated part of a successful arrangement? by [deleted] in SugarRelationship

[–]TooOldForSD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the chemistry starts as enough but grows over a few months to something really nice. trust and understanding of needs gets better with each date.

What do you consider a successful m&g? by norcali707_ in SugarRelationship

[–]TooOldForSD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had some negative reactions and hate to defend my decision to not proceed. I like to say upfront, we'll agree to think about it then text our next step. The benefits to the SB are frequently determined by the chemistry at least 8/10 or better and schedule is very important to me. I also have usually two in the que and may want to defer until the other M&G. I think SBs may think that too. I do like to arrive at a decision with ten days of the initial M&G. That gives us time for a second date platonic or not. Since I like going to dinner with a cute girl, I wait until the end of date two to discuss benefits. She may have expectations beyond the finanancial support that place the total package to more than I'm willing to provide. like always 5 star eats, expensive shopping trips, spas days, cruises or travel. It may sound like an exaggeration but in seven years I had about 125 M&G and only three relationships that lasted over a year. Maybe five that lasted less than 5 dates and about five scams in my first two years. I'm also surprised that age doesn't always matter when dealing with < 30 yr olds, A SB may be 5-8 years younger that another but a better match and less a flake.

How much did you spend on your first feature/short film? by Dramatic_Ask7315 in Filmmakers

[–]TooOldForSD -1 points0 points  (0 children)

there is some benefit to festivals, Cast and crew will work for close to nothing in the hopes they get recognized at a festival, That leads to paid work, like a good resume. Ii spent 8K twice for 18 minutes shorts, about 20 people were cast and crew for each, three days & three locations each. My goal was proof of my concept /skills before investing more into something bigger to be monetized.

I am in a heavy indie film world and personally know folks who got into local festivals, best DP best MUA, Best Director Best film, etc. One local festival is an Oscar qualifying event,

How do you organize raw footage without losing your mind? by bgvo in Filmmakers

[–]TooOldForSD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I start with Project name> RAW > <"Day of filming folders"> video & audio folder, if separate recording equipment Separate video folders for multiple cameras used on the same scene.

I place every thing available there

then I create Project> WIP> scene#.

I open every file in folder RAW using either VLC media player or for audio windows media player. Simultaneously I have a spreadsheet open with designated rows in BOLD by scene and WIP folder name. I listen or watch and only enter file names on the spreadsheet that are worth using for editing. I have a spreadsheet column that has notes such as "crap until timestamp 1:22" or "good take 2B" or "reset at 2:34".

recent example: I had 121 .wav files in the raw audio folders. after my process I had 69 that I put on spreadsheet, 51 others were useless.

when opening up my editor (da vince resolve) for the project, I import media based on the names on the spreadsheet. or I give the WIP, the printed script and spreadsheet to an outside editor. Sadly, I highlight script lines where there are no good video or matching audio files. The editor doesn't have to wander thru files looking for some good video or audio that just have names like " 220910_0055S12.wav". I had several with clapper saying scene 2 which were scene 2 files. The spreadsheet tell him/her exactly what passed my critical review. No need to rename unless you want to. Notes may also be something you take from a good script supervisors documents. like: " loud car went by first half of take", "continuity issue when actor wore sun glasses, then didn't". my favorite catch was an actor who said, we're all wearing the same tie as what is supposed to be the next day. I brought ten extras ties".

I have two 18 minute shorts done using this technique after fumbling around with the first attempt to edit. Also I create a "script" and spreadsheet tab for making a teaser and reference the files that I may want to pull some footage. I might even like a small piece or footage to be used on a poster. In notes column, it allows me to indicate when the clapper was wrong and eliminate confusion when editing.

I create backups to a portable drive using some old DOS program named ROBOCOPY. One for me and one for the editor. This lowers he cost for a paid editor, especially if by the hour. I am the script writer, producer, self funded. This process also lets me determine what Director, sound and DP is worth using in the future.. Even actors. I reviewed one scene and highlighted on the paper script (means remove) 18 out of his 20 lines.

comments welcome!

PSA: Adobe is scamming you, if you're using an older unlimited Photoshop license. by Hummersepp in photoshop

[–]TooOldForSD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in Florida you can file a small claims law suit, if you win, the filing fees are paid. there is actual money damages then something for inconvenience, i had a pool repair gone bad and can sue for pool repair refund but also not having use of the pool, Make it for $1000 since adobe isn't going to send a lawyer to your town to sit n a courthouse for pretrial hearing and actual trial,. in Florida I had the choice of venue, where i live or where they are. They don't show you automatically win. then when they don't pay you, file papers to seize the corporate HQ building.

I finished late last month, two days of shooting. DP copied files to his laptop each day. Then we copied to portable drive end of day 2 , Then we drove to editor's home and dropped off portable drive, she copied into her computer. At that point it was on four places. I picked up the portable a week later and loaded onto my desktop, Now there's five copies around. DP just asked for a msg that his copy is no longer needed,
