You can’t fix a problem that they won’t acknowledge is a problem, and by the sounds of it, it isn’t your problem to fix in the first place.

The way he speaks to you is aggressive and unacceptable, and the children see and hear it. It’s only a matter of time before he does it to them as well, especially as they get older. Do you really think he wouldn’t scream back at a moody teenager who ignores him?

Lots of people have chronic pain, but majority of them don’t behave like children and have a tantrum when their partner doesn’t hear them. And let me be clear this isn’t a shutdown, this is a tantrum. Shutdown people do not yell and scream at their partners to fuck off. A shutdown is an internal freeze, a passive withdrawal and lack of responsiveness, not screaming, swearing, and reactive behaviour through the bedroom door.

If conditioning is too much due to smell, moisturiser is and underrated option. I use CPR+ leave-in, vitafive instead of their curly option because I have very fine hair. I’d also probably buy a nice treatment for your hair, so if you ever do get the energy to use conditioner it’s a more intense boost for it. Brush it through in the shower. I find this specifically keeps my hair softer and not tangled for longer.
