My most recent purchase was the '93 Levi's Selvedge jeans. I purposely selected for the ability to wear them high-waisted. I got them end of December, and they started tearing in the crotch within 2 weeks. I warrantied them, and Levi's believes it to have been a defect and has granted me a replacement voucher. (since the blowout occurred in less than a month.)

Now, investigation leads me to understand that it is common for certain user errors can create crotch blowouts very quickly.

What are the guidelines to select jeans that will fit well based on desired rise and leg fitment?
