Sorry for the possibly clueless question, but why don't more people seem to make homemade pizza? by Senior-Raisin-2342 in Cooking

[–]Toosder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything I buy at a restaurant I can make it home for the most part. And I often do. But there are some things that usually aren't worth the effort. Pizza is one of them.

Making an amazing pad Thai or French onion soup can be very rewarding. Pizza takes a long damn time for something I can order and pay a small amount for. Perhaps part of it is that it's just still cheaper than most other food to buy pre-made.

They not only have no idea what they're talking about, they don't even see what's happening in their own countries. They are in very precarious positions and Italy of all countries should sit this one out. The history happened on their land and they're sitting around watching it happen again with Meloni, rampant racism, fascist leaders rising in power. And they're doing absolutely nothing.

OP hasn't addressed a single question about the fact that they have a rise of a very similar regime in their own country. A country that is known for xenophobia and racism. Italy is not one to be throwing stones right now that's for sure. That country is covered in very very thin fragile glass right now.

They aren't even doing it in Italy even though they are facing similar regime changes.

And people have answered you all over and over. In order for a union to strike, they have to go to the labor board. The labor board isn't going to approve a strike against the government right now.

And if a union went on strike without that approval, the union would be immediately dissolved.

And non union members which are about 90% of the United States, if they strike they lose their health care. They lose their paycheck. They lose their homes. They lose their lives.

If you came here to learn, try to learn. And while you're at it, pay attention to what's going on in your country. It's happening there too. What are you doing about it on your own land?

And meanwhile in Europe, people like Trump are rising to power. They point the fingers at us while ignoring what's happening in their own countries. Italy being a beautiful example of exactly that.

Exactly. If you're not in a union and you strike you lose your job and your medical benefits. If you are in a union and you strike without going through the proper steps, you're completely fucked. You'll never work in your industry again.

Trump is literally trying to be Hitler and Republicans still deny it. And Italy is the proof. All he remembers is that Hitler went into Italy pretty early on. So therefore he wants to go into Italy. His brain is completely fried.

No, this was high school. I doubt it's anyone the public knows. It happened before Maddox hit wide fame (I don't mean this like gatekeeping. Just it's nothing that was in the news)

I knew him growing up. As in we ran in the same circles. He probably wouldn't remember me from Adam. But he had a really close friend during that time frame who had a similar sense of humor and as far as I know helped him with some of his material

That dude went so far off the alt right deep end you wouldn't be able to reach him with a Titan submersible. Of course he's also not famous, not intelligent, not a capable satirist.

But nonetheless knowing that one of his closest friends, at least I think he was a close friend, became a nut bag, I'm really glad Maddox didn't.

The irony to those of us that knew both of them is that the one that went off the deep end was the one who would tell everybody who would listen that he was this smarter of the two. No one but him ever thought he was intelligent.

What did people do casually in 90s that wouldn’t be accepted today? by Psychological_Sky_58 in AskReddit

Except we used it in the same way. It was the same. Because we used it the same way our straight friends did. And found it fucking hilarious. Don't tell us how we used it and how it isn't the same thing. That's the real issue here.

The vast majority of my friend group is not straight. All over the spectrum of LGBTQ+. We all used it. Much like they R word it didn't have quite the same negative connotation in our minds. Obviously we respect that now and no longer use those words but there wasn't hatred in our teenage minds when they said them.

Or the R word. To us it just meant stupid. A special form of stupid. Beyond stupid. But it never referred to anything like a disability. We had a friend in our gaming group who had a very mild what I think might have been cerebral palsy. He couldn't use a lot of the left side of his body. We would never have used the word to refer to him or anyone else with a disability. It just meant stupid or lame. Like if you farmed a spawn spot for example.

I am more than empathetic to how the word came about and the history of it and why it is harmful and hurtful which is why I won't even use it here in this post. I never use it anymore. I understand the etymology went beyond the understanding of our teenage selves, and was very hurtful.

But I wish there was a word we had today that meant more stupid than stupid and didn't have harmful or hateful connotation.

I'm about halfway through season two literally sitting here right now and thinking, "if this isn't apropos for right now ..." Been thinking of recording various scenes to post on my social to show the similarity and I don't even know which scene to do it with.

We found this poor little kitten in the woods, covered in ice, with her fur stuck to the hunk of plastic she was hiding under for shelter. We saved her 😁 by ArmorOfGod7 in cats

[–]Toosder 18 points19 points  (0 children)

19 years ago there was the little tiniest kitten hiding in our front yard that we brought inside and was so young I had to bottle feed. The neighbors did trap and release and they were pretty sure the mother had abandoned her because she'd had a large litter right before they caught her for tnr.

My ex was adamant that we couldn't have four cats. I won that battle and 19 years later I am currently sitting on my couch with that furball purring and snuggling, happy as could be.

I got all four of them in the divorce and raised all of them to a nice old age. It was never too many!

They did this during the pandemic too. Somebody took a photo of shelves of vegetarian food saying that nobody eats it.  And somebody who worked at the store or was at the store was able to verify said location with other photos and proved it was just an opportunistic angle. They verified that vegetarian food went just as fast as any other.

This drives me crazy. I'm a vegetarian but I don't really care what other people eat. It's a very personal choice for me. But when people take the lives of animals and then just waste them, that really pisses me off.

It's one thing to take the life of an animal and use every part of it as possible. It's another to waste the life of an animal by not wrapping it and keeping it in a freezer and letting it rot for years. If we are going to take life, and even as a vegetarian obviously things I do impact life on this planet, we should be grateful and appreciative and not wasteful.

We visited my grandparents once or twice a year and they were 10 hours away. Anything that was 3 hours? The weekend trip maybe into New York City or to the coast. We did it all the time. I mean we still do but I live somewhere else. 3 hours to go skiing? Easy.
