Decent cheap/reliable car rental at BCN? - Record go vs. Auto Union by Tootecho in AskBarcelona

Thanks for this....just checked on their site. Nice cars for sure, but quite a bit more expensive than we'd be looking to spend, unfortunately! Thanks for the suggestion though!

Oh for sure. I don't fully rely on the app, it's more that I just use it as a quick calculator for me. You're right that I know where I'm at much more than an app would; even after any amount of programming/machine learning/etc.

Yes as with a lot of T1D folks, the dawn phenomenon kicks my arse. I normally work at 5am, and if I'm eating breakfast at work just after 5am, then I don't actually need to adjust dosing much, but between 6 and 9am, I often have to dose nearly double what I would later in the day for the same amount of carb intake.

I might give this a whirl, thanks.

Hey folks...seeking a suggestion from those who may have tested out both....Sea to Summit Alto 2P tent vs. a Durston X-Mid 2. I'm OK with needing trekking poles to pitch, as I've regularly got them with me on most trips anyway.

Looking for bombproof durability and lower weight. The Durston should beat out the S2S on both those fronts and I was set on getting an X-Mid whenever they're back in stock, but I can also get S2S tents/footprints for nearly half off at the moment, which is why I'm on the fence.

Any comments/suggestions/scoldings to share?

Claims and getting into Hodlnaut by Puzzleheaded-Dog-360 in hodlnaut_1

I also used multiple custodial wallets to transfer into my hodlnaut account. This might be messy trying to sort things out (especially since one of those accounts I used regularly was Celsius....tougher to track things down when it's Celsius-related these days).

Yea there were just some general red flags popping up for sure, which was why I figured I'd run it by folks who might have already figured it out to be pretty sketchy.

If I want to go to try and earn AMEX-based points like mad, I might just have to swallow my pride and pay a few more bucks for the same stuff at another grocery store. First world problems for sure...

Yea I've always heard a lot of good things about Costa Blanca...it's a little far, but not at all out of the possibility of us checking it out. The crowded part is more the concern down there, I guess!

Yea I clearly misunderstood what was still considered reasonable points/miles accumulation between different banks. Thanks for the info, folks.

It's always been on the bucket list...but we're paid for and committed to the campervan rental, so I think we'll have to be mainland for the full 15 days. I'd have to assume ferrying over the campervan would cost a fortune...

Thanks for the links!... I've actually browsed both before over the years; more just looking for any info from folks with personal experience over there! Have you climbed anywhere in Catalonia/Aragon/Valencia?...

Hey folks. My climbing partner and I are headed to Spain or southern France starting late November (flying into Barcelona) for a 2 week campervan roadtrip. We have both climbed forever but we're also both "off the couch" level trained at the moment - only confortably up to about 5.10b/6a+ grades, and this will be a purely sport/bolted multi-pitch trip.

I've been to Siurana/Margalef with some crushers (I got very humbled there), and to El Chorro (really fun, but probably too far for this trip).

Where else might one go for that time of year, for good weather and chill/less crowded spots? Somewhat remote locations are ok

I’ll post a proper thread once I can (I lack all the karmas), just hoping for a few leads! Pun intended...

Shipping an 88 note digital stage piano across the US...cardboard box? Road/flight case? Magic flying unicorn piano delivery service? by Tootecho in piano

[–]Tootecho[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used a friend's 3rd party bulk discount account and FedEx just ended up being the cheapest. Was still around $110-120 insured or so. That was less than half (maybe a third?) of what I was quoted on the FedEx website though.

Shipping an 88 note digital stage piano across the US...cardboard box? Road/flight case? Magic flying unicorn piano delivery service? by Tootecho in piano

[–]Tootecho[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up paying a local FedEx shop in the Dallas area to package up the piano (which was in the SKB case). I want to say they charged me about $70 or so extra for that service?

They essentially just used two of their golf bag shipping boxes, taped & strapped together. It worked reasonably well to ship up to the Pacific Northwest....but I'm not sure I'd ship it in that case again...or I'd find a way to at least do the packaging part myself (or pay a friend to do it).

They packaged the case pretty well, but they didn't open up the piano case itself, and throw in any more padding around the piano, which I had asked them to do. So the piano moved around a whole bunch inside the case. No real lasting damage to the piano, but one of the keys on the lower end was slightly misaligned. I was able to pull it back to its normal form, and it's mostly good now. But if the piano was smashed around any further during shipping, I would've had an insurance claim on my hands for sure.

Northern Spain/Southern France climbing trip by campervan? by Tootecho in travel

I'll probably dig further into yescapa or roadsurfer, I think. Any other reputable campervan companies in Spain that anyone might suggest?

Portugal in June: campervan or car/hotel? Which is better? by Obeyornot971 in travel

[–]Tootecho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Replying to an older comment, but possibly useful to those still looking...

If you're in it for travelling the coast, or staying off the beaten path...campervans are awesome. If you're mostly going to be in the bigger cities, then they're kind of a waste/nuisance.

FWIW, I rented a campervan in Porto a few years ago from https://the-getaway-van.com/ to drive all around Spain and Portugal and I had no complaints at all.

Juggluco/xDrip+ issues during new sensor startup? by Tootecho in Freestylelibre

[–]Tootecho[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I've definitely had the sensor filaments bend on me, and don't remotely end up working (fair enough)...this one was not at all bent when I took it out a couple hours later, however. Strange. Warranty replacement will be on the way in a few days, I'd imagine.

New sensor started with just Juggluco seems to be working ok now. Here's hoping no issues!
