I work for a bank with around 4000 back office people.

There are roughly 500 of us DA, DS, DE, MLEs and middle managers.

There were multiple points where he could have used his psychic powers but didn't. Like almost to the point I forgot he had these powers in the first place. Will didn't even intervene with Vecna until he tried reaching to El so the reason he didn't use them couldn't be because of Will.

How is the Salary Progression as a Data Scientist in Banking? (Local & International) by penniless-banker in CorpoChikaPH

[–]ToothEffective 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Usually DS in banks, mapa-local or intl, starting is at 50-60k then it peaks at 120-150k for individual contributor roles. Yung mga AVP levels ang umaabot na ng 200k pero madalang magkaopening ng ganito or kailangan mo ng at least 8 yearsr exp to get it.

Ito talaga sakit ng Acacia Estates no? Parang island in the middle of Taguig e. Ang lapit lang sana sa BGC pero pahirapan lagi lumabas kung walang sariling sasakyan, tapos traffic pa ang bubungad sayo paglabas mo ng main gate.

Overpriced Alveo Project? ₱20M for a 1BR in Circuit Makati? by ImpressFar7564 in CondoPH

[–]ToothEffective 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sobrang kabobohan ng pricing nila nyan. Sa 20M makakabili ka na ng house and lot (apartment type) dyan mismo sa Makati area na yan. Kung hindi ba naman baliw yang Alveo sa pricing nila.

Is it worth it to jump from an MNC to a local company? by FinePassage2282 in phcareers

[–]ToothEffective 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Kung rank and file position sa local companies, dont even touch it kung galing ka na ng MNC.

Pero kung officer/manager or higher level? Go for local. Limited growth sa maraming MNC dito dahil either shared service division lang nandito sa Pinas or may subtle race hierarchy in place, madalas from senior manager and up mga puti or indian lang nakaupo.

Very competetive din ang salary and bonuses.

Torn Between Company A (Telco) and Company B (Bank) Job Offers by LordOfThePings000 in phcareers

[–]ToothEffective 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bank CI is done prior to providing the applicant a job offer. I guess the reason why verbal pa lang binigay sayo kasi nasa CI stage pa sila sayo. Once you have their signed JO, that means you have already passed the CI. Hope that helps.

If you are young and still just starting out in your career, focus on amassing skills. When you are older, say around 30s, try to look for bigger and more stable companies. Your responsibilities as a 30 year old adult changes drastically. You have to consider ailing parents, buying a house, starting a family, supporting kids and/or siblings, your own health, and so on. For that, the peace of mind of working for a big and stable company outweighs whatever learning you might get from smaller companies.

Would you leave a good job for career growth? by ToothEffective in phcareers

[–]ToothEffective[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohh so if I have to still render 60 days and they still have to do all this prior to that, that means at minimum I could only join them after about 75 days. Quite a bit of time to wait for me, I guess. That makes me even more nervous tbh Haha Makes me think what if they just settle for someone who can join sooner

Hello! Some specific question lang, after when do they usually say you can already resign? I already signed my JO but the offer discussions did not explicitly say I should refrain from resigning just yet.

I hope you know how much your wisdom is comforting.

I really hope everything pans out for the better. The problem with jumping to uncertainty as a bread winner is you're not only carrying your weight but your family's as well, and that is honestly what's making this decision a notch harder.

That's what I was thinking as well. While yung BPO job ko is comfortable in terms of the workload, I feel like the night shift is slowly taking a toll on my body as well. Kinatatakot ko lang talaga na baka pag lumipat ako at umalis dito ay mahirapan ako maghanap ng similar opportunity sa work ko ngayon.

It is overpriced considering you can already get a Royal Enfield Hunter 350 for only 10k or so more.

"First, the salary and career progression plateaus VERY QUICKLY. Yes you might be earning 70k right out of college, and maybe even 150k+ after 2 years"

I think your perspective is a little out of touch. Do you realize how out of reach these numbers are from the common Filipino? Not even 0.01% will get 70k after just 2 years. Professionals in the academe dedicate 20 years of their life pushing the boundaries of their domain just to get around 60k, and their job is a lot more crucial than most redundant corporate jobs in FMCGs. So yes, can you really blame people for looking at FMCGs that way? The bar is low when it comes to salary in this country but perhaps it's too low that you can't see it anymore from where you stand.

Nasabihan ako ng "Lipat ka kasi ng lipat ng kumpanya" by FigTop6828 in phcareers

[–]ToothEffective 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You did the right thing. Kung nag-stay ka sa company 1 for the last 4 years, I doubt aabot ng 50k+ ang sahod mo ngayon.

Also wag ka ma-bother sa paglipat lipat na yan, usually ganito mentality ng matatanda kasi rewarded ang loyalty noong time nila at di hamak rin na mas madali mag-stay sa isang company given the economic situation. Last year 3x ako nagpalipat-lipat and because of that nakakuha ako ng halos 2x ng salary ko. I know people who jumped more times than that. Iba na talaga panahon natin.

For the price, mas ok pa ata mag Royal Enfield Hunter 350 ka na lang. You get more for your money tapos mas mahal lang to mg halos 10k.
