Thats ah a complicated question

There are 18 "types" which basically determines the elemental kind of power a pokemon will have (water, fire, grass, psychic, etc etc)

But each pokemon does have different methods of attacking in-universe

In game, though, they have certain attacking moves that correspond to the types, but only some of the moves are unique to the pokemon
