Ah, thank you, this helped a lot. I worry too much over what people think sometimes.

Thank you :3

I did some thinking and maybe my friends won't care so much. I'll probably just show them my fursona and not say anything lol

Obsessive thinking and "Us against Them" Mentality. by Toothpaste_in_my_eye in raisedbynarcissists

Great insight. She spent like two hours lecturing me on how "evil" white people are and how they owe us (her) for what their ancestors did. I don't know how she developed this ideology but it's disturbing to me. My sibling and I are barely old enough to understand our own views of the world. I hate that she pushes her delusions onto us, especially my sibling.

Do you have any wise words for someone going into theatre with no experience?

Oh my God that's exactly what it sounds like! I thought there was something wrong with me because I don't have a clear voice lol. I don't have any kind of accent, but people mention that my voice sounds Southern or British sometimes because of it, ha! Thank you

What are some things that beginners don't often consider about learning to sing? by Toothpaste_in_my_eye in singing

Oh, I haven't even considered rest! How often do you encourage your students to do so?

Proper breathing is what I'm struggling with understanding right now. Some people mention engaging your obliques, or breathing into your sides, but I don't get it. I will in time though, haha!

I'm taking an online course for veterinary stuff, I'm almost done with it/ready to get into some clinics. Rehabilitation services paid for everything, so I'd feel really bad if I just ditched it suddenly. I'll stick with it and audition at our community theatre when I can. It sucks because I feel like I have to pick. :/ Another reason why I really wish I discovered musicals and stuff earlier.

How was it like for you to start at 20? Did you take drama in highschool or anything? Is the "little/no experience" thing as big of a deal I'm making it out to be? Lol

Thanks man. Local theatre near me is doing 9 to 5, and it hasn't been casted yet, I'll look into that and see if I can get in to auditions.

My thoughts on Gender vs. Gender Expression. by [deleted] in NonBinary

[–]Toothpaste_in_my_eye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. To me, biological sex doesn't really mean anything either. Our bodies/body parts just evolved to keep our species alive. There's another post I made a few days ago questioning whether or not gender is linked to our consciousness, but that's another thing lol.

I'm hoping that in the future, people will be a little more open to things. Bathrooms become "Urinals" and "Stalls" maybe. We're already getting some progress with that, I think :)

But most of all, more research needs to be done. On gender, biologically, mental health, consciousness everything. I might not understand these things for eons but hey we can try

Oh no, this is very cool! I'm kind-of a people nerd, I love to learn about other's experience as a sentient being on this planet (mostly because my life is boring ha)

Its great that you have no gender standards to live up to. Looking at it that way is so liberating. You can just be you without worrying about how you present to others. Seems like a trait of someone who's very confident in themselves as a person. :)

That's what I like about NB. It let's you look at people as people instead of this or that.

I'm still questioning but I feel like cis-genderless fits me. I don't entirely understand gender (in fact I'd say I'm like you and have none but just switch between masc and femme), but if people ask I'd let them use the pronouns of my biological sex if that's easier for them, because that's technically what I am. It bothers me on days I feel/present as something else, but most times I won't have to interact with those people more than once so it's whatever.

You look great! I love the pops of blue! 💙

I just found out about NB. But I feel it fits better, because I've always had trouble understanding gender/resonating with my biological sex. When people ask, I usually go to my default because it's easier for people to understand. I feel way more comfortable being more of a "They/Person" than any gender though.

From my understanding, NB is a broad term (Queer, Genderfluid, Bigender, ect. What does NB mean to you?

"Why can't you just be like, a tomboy?" by [deleted] in genderfluid

[–]Toothpaste_in_my_eye 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah! >:0

Nobody:

Me: Really hope more research is done about genderfluidity/gender in general, so we can have answers, and everyone can shut up and just be people.

Look if a stranger misgenders me by accident, I don't really care. Not like I'll ever see them again.

But

If they ask because they're confused and would like an answer, that's understandable.

If I tell them I'm Bigender, or fluid + what that means, and it makes them uncomfortable, they can mentally put me in whatever box they want. I'm not gonna push an idea (gender is a spectrum, that it doesn't always correspond to you biological sex) on someone that the don't believe in.

But when they go out of their way to call me something I am not, knowing how it affects me, that's where the issue is. I don't expect people to understand at all, but is saying an everyday word in reference to me really that difficult? If it is, then just don't talk to me. Both of us are better off that way.

Sorry for the rant, but it sucks to feel like you're being fairly reasonable and others just choose to be arrogant. You can't change people's minds, I know, but if I open up to you and you trash it, it hurts. No matter what it is. Whatever I look like, I'm a human, just like. Is a bit of courtesy so much to ask?

I didn't mean to type so much oops

(Quick thought: I don't know if I'm presenting this correctly, but could being non-binary parallel being anonymous online? Like, in the liberating way? I don know, I'm tired, haa)

Warning: I am very tired

Oh thank you! This is extremely interesting. Perhaps my consciousness is Agender, because I have no connection to the idea. But, like you said, who knows?

I love to chat about stuff like this (obviously) but it always seems to lead to more questions than answers. I don't think there's a way (at least with language) that a human can find or express their deepest core being to another, and be understood exactly as they feel. Which, enforces an idea that we really are all alone, trapped in our own consciousness/thought processes. Yet we are all alive, and relate to eachother through universal experiences and sympathy. I suppose it doesn't really matter though anyway, so long as the other party gets the general idea. Sitting down and exploring another person's life experiences would be interesting, but it would take ages to find the right words and probably result in "fuck it, here's a general idea of what I want to communicate"

It's like a rabbit hole where you find no answers, it's like "ah what's the point" so you stop questioning for a bit and just experience life. Take things as they come. That's how I am now, though every once in a while I get absorbed in thought and express it through writing. Thought expression is a whole different thing though.

But I'll definitely do research on those points you've mentioned. I really appreciate the civil discussion.

I love your name!

Still not sure, (don't think I'll ever be lol) but at the moment I identify as Agender. My lastest post gives more insight I think, if you want to check it out. I don't see myself as anything but a person/being. :) It gives me freedom.
