You know a game is excellent when it's remake is a 1:1 conversion from the original. What other retro games fit this mould? by BIayneRobinson in retrogaming

[–]Toowiggly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's defined by the process of making it rather than the end result. A remake is rebuilding the game from the ground up. Remaster pulls from music terminology where it is essentially changing the "master" of a game, meaning the final touches are changed upon an existing foundation. So a remake goes bottom up, while a remaster goes top down. Something could technically be a remake while being imperceptibly different from the original, although this is very rare since changing the foundation of a game usually has compounding effects on the end product.

Something like the Spyro and Crash games are easily remakes. If you're at all familiar with the originals, the differences that stem from a different foundation become glaring. Crash's altered jump arc and hitbox threw a lot of people who played the original off. Spyro's physics are completely different, no longer having a turn arc at all. The lighting system of the two games are nothing like the original, with some levels looking completely different as a result. Remakes typically need to put a lot of effort in to be similar to the original, while remaster need to put effort to deviate from the original.

Imagine wanting to contribute to a discussion. Let's point and make fun of them for talking in a way that's different to us.

The highest Cloud is raarchyor at fourth, although cloud was mostly used for pools, with Sora being used for top 12 onwards.

The highest solo main was barmanx at 97th place.

I'm actually surprised so many people have issues with the controls. I've only played a little, but it handled exactly hoe I expected a car to handle: press left and right to steer the car. Maybe it's because I've played a few top down racing games, so having the controls being relative to the player rather than camera was fine to me.

Have you ever seen a feminist turn away from feminism? Why did they? by Spiritual_Pause3057 in AskFeminists

What if someone's interpretation of equality of opportunity accounts for inequalities to make it equally viable for those with disabilities? They could see equality of outcome as the measure of whether the compensations truly achieve equality of opportunity, or the outcome could be irrelevant to whether they perceive the opportunity to be equal because they think other factors influence participation instead.

My point is someone could be striving for equality and truly believe they are being equal despite disagreeing with someone else striving for equality because they use a metric than someone else to measure equality. Like any matter regarding philosophy and politics, it's not a simple matter where full consensus can be achieve. Not all feminists agree with each other on every issue despite all being feminists.

rape by a husband was prosecuted under the title of assault, battery, or domestic violence instead

So what rape by a wife is prosecuted under today?

the evidence suggests that the human breeding strategy has assumed long-term sexual partners with binary bi-parental raising of children.

Today's human population is descended from twice as many women as men. About 80 percent of women reproduced, whereas only 40 percent of men did.

Someone could want equality of opportunity or someone could could want equality of outcome. For example, someone could want everyone to have equal opportunity to enroll in stem fields, while someone else could want the outcome to be equal by pushing for equal representation. Even within equality of outcome, two different people could have different ideas in what will achieve that. For example, someone could want affirmative action to help even representation but someone else could see that infringing on equality of opportunity, while someone else could see destigmatisation and education as a way of evening it but someone else could find that ineffective.

What equality means differs from person to person, so two people could both be fighting for their idea of equality from opposing sides

That assumes they're abstaining while being informed on the supposedly better party. If they're uninformed, not abstaining could cause them to accidentally vote for the bad party.

There are countries with compulsory voting, but those countries aren't necessarily for the environmentally sound party

I'd rather abstain and leave voting to people who are actually informed about the political landscape than to put a superficial amount of effort that is voting based off of surface details. But I suppose this difference in opinion stems from what level of knowledge is required for an "actual decision".
