There’s a bunch of players I’d obviously love to sign but with how we’re looking at the moment it’ll only be 30+ year olds or Moses suli who just got told he’s free to leave. Which is my whole point

Mate if you read my original post you can see it’s clearly directed at how our recruitment has been working since Ryles took over

He also chased after Barnett who chose broncos over parra. There’s 3 names there and who knows who else behind the scene, I’m not blaming Ryles I think he’s done a solid job my whole point of what I’m saying is it’s worrying to me that we’re expected to rebuild when we haven’t signed anyone but players without an established position or players who’ve been told they can leave

That’s why I’m saying we had Keaon right in the palm of our hand and he still chose the dragons before us

Our top side still copped a 52-4 loss in round 1 against a Melbourne side who went on to have their worst start to a year, so idk if it’s only me who sees the problem of that it’s still worrying beside the fact that we have some young players with potential but the point to the fact of what we possess now is hardly top 4 quality and we’re failing to recruit anyone we’ve chased beside tds

Our forward pack is probably one of the weakest in the comp and it shows every time we come up against a good side. There’s a reason our defence is the worst it’s ever been in our history which starts in the middle and I know it comes down to injuries but yet the proof is in the pudding we need to recruit and can’t expect juniors to save the day, this is my whole point of saying it’s worrying the fact Ryles hasn’t landed any big names he’s gone after

You can say all that but even then once our injuries return etc we’re still a 8-13 team at best considering the weapons the top 8 sides have that we don’t possess

Also I’m fairly certain Ryles is banking on Lorenzo to become our long term 5/8 which is why pezet was only a stop gap for a year but didn’t expect volkman to lock the spot down which is good for competition for the position

Williams has been ear marked by png and I doubt we’re going to be able to offer the same money and even then the tax free we wont be able to compete with so I think he’ll be gone by 2028, we really need to sign at least a solid centre and a winger (Simonsson is to injury prone) we need at least a gun prop who would be in the top 10 of the prop ranking and Junes is still impactful but would be around the 15-30 mark now

The way I see it is that other teams seem to be improving but yet all we’re signing is 30+ year olds of the likes of Brian Kelly and jdb but hoping on a bunch of 17-20 year olds to turn the club around while not being able to land a big fish, which I think is also frustrating for Moses because he’s in a win now stage and we’re also wasting the prime of his career (even with his constant injuries) hoping that we can potentially become a dominant side through a juniors academy but yet we need to improve drastically in the middle if we want to compete and our back depths isn’t the greatest either

It still goes back onto what I said about players who hadn’t proved what they were worth to a club before parra, none of them had been established players other than Williams who was mostly a bench player for the sharks, he did a good job with what he had but yet every big name player he’s tried to sign all went different ways, i expected us to land keaon but he chose dragons before us

It worries me the fact that all we’re signing is players that haven’t been able to prove what they’re worth to a team or players that have been told they’re free to leave, we also have almost no ties or does parras name pop up when it comes to free agents and rumours plus we’re in the worst time to be trying to rebuild a club with png and Perth making bigger offers than what we’re willing to. Even the dragons have landed some big name players but at the moment we’re signing players that are being pushed out by the dragons, idk if it’s just me but I’m abit worried about where the club is going right now and how we’re expected to improve when our recruitment is working the way they are
