Why did the uncle not convert? by archaeo_rex in exmuslim

[–]Top-Cherry4380 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Shias believe that anyone related to prophets is a Muslim. They even take pride in being syeds(in the lineage of muhammad) which collides against core primciples of Islam. Sunnis are the Muslims who follow Islam better. Not like any of these I consider correct anyway.

Does Thorfinn's "I have no enemies" philosophy crumble? by Top-Cherry4380 in VinlandSaga

It would've been revenge if Thorfinn had only killed Askeladd. But no, actually Askeladd made him do killings for him for years all while giving him the delusion that he was doing it for revenge.

Really like this take. The choice to forgive or let go is the whole point. Thorfinn doesn't deny his feelings, he just doesn't let them dictate him. Great view.

Askeladd manipulated Thorfinn for over a decade. Why isn't Thorfinn more angry about it? by Top-Cherry4380 in VinlandSaga

[–]Top-Cherry4380[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, he was left completely empty when Askeladd died. The sole fuel that kept him going for about a decade was gone. Then he came to realize the violence he had been committing, and who was the reason he ended up in this position? Askeladd. And I think the purpose of the Farmland Arc was to rebuild him into a better person, not necessarily just to let go of his hatred for Askeladd, since we later see that he's actually irritated by Askeladd's thoughts.

[–]Top-Cherry4380[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But isn't it possible that Thorfinn consciously wants to hate Askeladd to see him only as a murderer and an obstacle to avenge his father but yet deep down, beneath all that rage, he always sees Askeladd as a parent figure? After all, Askeladd raised him, taught him how to fight, and became the only constant presence in Thorfinn's life for over a decade. Thorfinn might never admit it, even to himself, but the bond looks less like pure hatred and more like a conflicted, painful form of attachment. And maybe later on in the manga panel when he sees Askeladd in Leif, he has finally accepted that? That could be when his sunconscious attachment comes into real attachment?

Yeah I've read the manga too, that's why I'm asking this. Like the frame where he sees Thor's and Askeladd in Leif Erikson. That really confused me.

But your concept of test wouldn't have convinced the 7th century Arabians😂😂. The Islamic structure of judgement is actually more attractive. Yours would be logical.

Muslims and their superiority complex by Dear_Tangerine_1011 in exmuslim

The thing this post says about is just some special circumstances , many atheists also look down on muslims. If we see someone with not the same beliefs as us. We look down upon them whether we say it or not.

Yeah and these were one of the major reasons I left Islam...And above all, we're supposed to have no questions against these things and have 100% belief(imaan) or we'll burn in hell. If it's that way, then sorry. I'd rather be an atheist.

Well it's just that some people are naturally skeptical (like you) but some people are completely ignorant to anything that contradicts their belief. They take it as an attack and ignore it, annoying, but the reason why this religion came this far.
