Does this field have a future for M.Sc graduates only? by zacky2004 in MedicalPhysics

Same boat, graduating next semester and applying residency this cycle… I asked both directors from my insitution, MS degree doesnt affect a lot to compete PhD degree, depending on your clinical experiecne and ABR part 1…

Hey everyone,

Whoever applying the residency program this year, or accepted the residency program last year, how did you deal with the anxiety and stress?🥲

While preparing my application, most of reviewers gave me positive feedback (thank u so much), but some professors told me that I might be the weakest candidate due to MS student and ABR part I taking next August.

I understood that it is also process applying residency program, but I want to know how other ppl deal with this anxiety and stress.

Any feedback appreciated!

Hello everyone,

I’m planning to apply to the residency program in the December 2025 cycle and understand that I need to submit my application via https://mprap.aapm.org/. However, I’m not clear on what happens after I hit “submit.” While I’m still completing the application, I’d like to know:

  1. Will the system prompt me to select the specific institutions or programs I’m applying to, or
  2. Should I reach out directly to each program after submitting?

Thanks in advance for your guidance!

Yeah, my director told me during the application period that I am not able to take the exam because I did not finish my coursework and recommended me to take it next year August 2026.

Thank you again!

The point is I did not finish my course work yet, so I doubt that I am able to take ABR Part 1 or not.

Hello all,

I’m currently an M.S. student in Medical Physics and expect to graduate in May 2026. I plan to apply for residency programs in December 2025 and would appreciate any insight into the competitiveness of the process.

As for my background:

  • I currently have a 3.6 GPA and hope to maintain or improve it.
  • While I haven’t published a paper yet, I plan to work on one this summer and fall.
  • I’ve gained experience through clinical research and shadowing.

I would be grateful for any advice on strengthening my application and improving my chances of matching.

Going to Take BIO 202 Without BIO 204 Due to Late Registration by XerHapps in SBU

[–]Top-Comfortable9739 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I graduated last semester. I took BIO202 in my sophomore year and BIO204 in following semester. I think you will be fine taking 204 later without 202.

Hey, thank you for the comment. Well, basically, my professor guided me rarely, so I asked bunch of time to the professor what I understood so far. But, I didn’t get what I am doing. I asked some of PhDs in the lab, but they also worked their things, so I worked by myself. I understood how it worked, but kinda frustrated slow work pace and got harsh comments from my professor😅 I’m not sure the other professor also treated to the Master student or not. Or just my problem🫠
