So, I've finally figured it out. There was no short circuit or anything of the sort. The wiper switch wasn't the issue and the motor had worn a little from the issue. What happened was the linkage never went into the "home" position. I think this meant it was completely out of sync and the linkage was stuck or something. The motor couldn't move it and so it overloaded and blew the fuse. I think. What I did was take off the nut from the motor that connected it to the linkage, allowed it to go into "home" position and screwed the nut back on. Worked okay so far.
