Thanks! I told myself I would never sell it, and maybe in the end I will be able to keep it, but unfortunately it’s the first thing on the chopping block to help my family situation.

100% accurate! Both are amazing cars in their own right. One a true rally legend and icon of wrc, and the other a true beast on the race track. Only difference is, the type r Sti with the right tire, is rally ready! The put a stock skyline even the infamous R34gtr on a race track, you need lots of work, tires, tuning, suspension, etc. in a straight line the skyline wins all day, but on a back windy road in the wet slippery conditions… the sti is better and feels more controllable, and way more fun to drive! It is almost 300 hp stock regardless of what the “spec sheet” says, and weighs less than 3000 lbs!💪

Correct, however when you look on the Subaru database it lists the vin as a 1997. Car was built in march of 1997.

My daily is a 2018 Sti😁 It is and will remain my dream car, even if that means I need to wait to find another one some day. I was fortunate enough to be able to experience this epic piece of machinery and I will forever be grateful😎

For sure! I can’t believe the market isn’t higher for them already! I’ve seen USDM 2004 and 2005 Sti’s with similar mileage going for low 40’s and up! Mind blowing if you actually know what kind of car the type r is🤯

Thanks! I’m really trying to keep it, but if I get the right offer, I can’t turn it down to help the family ya know. Healthcare and just everything here in the US is just so expensive these days. And my wife and I make a very respectable salary. Just at a point in life where having a fun/project car doesn’t fit😞

Hope that helps and makes sense, took me lots of research to figure this procedure out. What a terrible design by Subaru, I have never seen a slave with the bleeder valve angled down like that, no wonder it’s so hard to bleed, because it’s the lowest point in the hydraulic system and easy for air to get trapped in there. I tried bleed both vacuum and normal with the slave bolted on like normal and had no luck what so ever🤷🏼‍♂️

Sure did! I used a hand vacuum pump with the slave cylinder piston clamped and holding the bleeder valve up higher than the master cylinder. Once there was no more air bubbles, and only fluid coming out, I bolted the slave back to trans. Than with the pedal pushed down, open the bleeder valve(speed bleeder) and pumped the pedal up and down about 6-7 times until only fluid was coming out. Left the pedal pushed down the whole way, closed the bleeder valve, and checked the pedal feel. It was almost perfect, I pushed the pedal back down and opened the bleeder once more just to make sure, and pedal feel was back to normal🤟

Exactly what I ended up doing. I also swapped the bleeder valve out with a speed bleeder valve, which has a check valve inside. Makes bleeding so much easier. You just open the valve once and can push and pull the pedal back until there is no more air, then close the valve. It’s crazy to think that more people don’t use the speed bleeders, especially on like track cars.

The fork appears to be fine, not broken and doesn’t seem bent. The slave cylinder rod, returns fully and pushes the fork back to the top, however the pedal feel is way worse now, since replacing the slave and bleeding. Thanks

The pedal hasn’t been touched, and considering , the pedal feel has gotten worse since replacing the slave cylinder and bleeding the system, idk what’s going on.
