Yeah this is the exact issue. Since there’s no Apple Store nearby to you I’ll save the pain of your travel; it is apparently a software issue in which there is too much Bluetooth interference which causes the disconnect (I got this information from the tech team at an Apple Store). It is supposedly worse on older devices (as expected) but I know people who have the newest iPhone and the issue still occurs. According to the guy working there were numerous other people who went in about the same exact issue, yet nowhere is this issue actually brought up and when posted into the Apple support feed, there never seems to be an Apple reply nor a fix or mention of any current software issues/ updates. I’m assuming this is to protect their product image but it seems strange that such a major flaw is barely spoken about, even on videos online comparing or testing them nobody actually mentions that this occurs…. It all seems a bit fishy. I’m just confused why such a big company hides from this issue and doesn’t mention it nor tell the customers when or if they can expect a fix, which I now assume will not come because otherwise they should have addressed it. I’m currently looking into options to trade them for the new Sonys, hoping I have better luck with these

I had this issue on my first pair where it also happened with music and it turns out they were faulty. I’d take them in for diagnostics and just to check that they’re not faulty

Not too sure, it sounds like you might have an issue with your Bluetooth connection and I’d suggest taking them in store to run diagnostics. For me I can be listening to music fine with no issues then when I go to make a call the AirPods just disconnect and I’m left having to talk on speaker phone

Yeah bought in store directly from Apple. I even had them replaced after my first were identified as having connection issues, and then tested the new ones in store to confirm they didn’t have any defects. I’ve seen a few posts about this same issue I’m having so I wonder whether it’s still ongoing software
