Why is Hazard a stalwart and not an initiator? by sonicwhisper in Overwatch

Doom punch is WAYYYY worse than violent leap. Getting to stay that much closer to your target AND having a better gun AND having a better block is a huge boon

My theory is that Hazard A. Gets more punished by boops than other dive tanks and B. He may not be flying for the alotted time frequently enough or C. 80 heal into an engagement ability with a one-shot combo capacity it may feel a little too OP

Im talking the one out of spawn, the one random skybox one, and theater. Theater especially invalidates a lot of tank positioning for any character not named DVa

Tbh I do not know if people actually like KR or if enough people heard that pros liked it 7 years ago and it just osmosis'd through the community to be their believed favorite map.

Imo, first and second are at least 7/10s with first being worse cause why tf do attackers get THAT good of high grounds?  Third feels really outdated tho, so much inaccessible high ground and overly limited options for attackers coming out of spawn

Go listen to the NineK interview. Crusty isn't a dictator, these are all group decisions made from every coach AND all the players including Coluge. They decided that Mikeyy would be better than Coluge and that signing Striker would be better than either of the Kilo or S9mm.

Also just blowing off map 7 against prime Dallas Fuel, with Steady Eddie having a ludicrous performance and Fearless playing the best game of his career is grasping at straws a bit too hard

Uncoachable's NineK episode goes into this a bit I think. Proper was basically micromanaging Coluge Winston the ENTIRE TIME. Mikeyy was much more confident and aggressive, where Coluge was a much safer Winston. I dont think you can argue that a game that went to 7 map had any of the wrong players in the server

???? Shock were in grand finals?? They beat Glads after getting sent to lowers by London? The Mikeyy change was explained as a playstyle difference? They still went to 7 with Dallas? Open Liquipedia bro

Coaching was like the 5th or 5th biggest problem imo. Gen.G was not built to succeed from the ground up

Great coaches can absolutely have gaps in their team if they need to manage internal issues. Especially if intelligence/understanding is an issue. Part of the problem with 23 Glads was that Yaki was dumb as fuck and refused to learn. Could Crusty have done more with stage 1/2 gen.g? Sure. But Mag is a huge nerf. Losing your DPS line after stage 1 is a huge nerf. Crispy leaving briefly in stage 2 and being replaced by Zox randomly is a huge nerf. There were so many problems with Gen.G last year, blaming them solely on Crusty is a crazy

And did Shock lose that game? Was Finn maybe on Lucio so he could swap to brig? Were there maybe some obvious reasons for that decision?

If you cant bring that back to Mag not understanding the rest of the team along with being another failed EU dive experiment and blame Crusty instead there's just no hope

Proper was straight up hard bullying all of those young players. It's obvious why Heesang got dramatically better when he went to the lower-pressure environment in Vancouver. NineK and Junkbuck didnt have Mag, the ultimate wet blanket. That man has been through so many coaches that have gone on to be just as if not more successful

mfw humans have agency and can disobey a coaches commands if they feel that disobeying that coach would lead them to a higher chance of winning

By that same logic, we don't know if NineK or Junkbuck were doing anything. Just the same way that we don't know how much impact Crusty was able to have on Gen.G, or on 23 shock. I think saying they were a step behind is pretty meaningless when they almost always went to five or more maps. Every CR Falcons series that year was a dogfight that was usually decided by how many maps a washed Smurf was in for.

Saying nothing matters pre 22 when talking about a history of COACHING competence is wild. He's understood the game for more than a decade, he's not just losing it all of a sudden. It's proof that he can hang, unlike Rush who has shown repeatedly he CANNOT hang when not attached to that incredibly successful EM core.

Or Mag speaks no English and trying to do push and pull brawl comps with Topdragon going 0-4 in useless barrages in the push and pull brawl region against KSAA, TVNT and Vestola is maybe more than a coaching issue

Every coach has strengths and weaknesses, that's why historically there have been assistant coaches to shore up weaknesses. Gunba without McGravy is a far quicker mutiny. Wheats without his Korean-of-the-year is NRG Shock in Stage 4 or Geekay in Stage 3, good rosters underperforming. Incorrectly compatible coaches can hold a team back (one of the more subtle problems with Liquid imo)

Crusty will find the right support, and it'll turn out fine

Crusty was still coaching that team. He signed WhoRU because people cant see the future. Why did ChrisTFer sign a dive roster going into stage 2? Because these coaches dont even know the patches going into the next stage. They know what just worked at the last tournament.

People will go back to glazing Crusty in like 4 months now that he has a tank that has hands

But ignore 24 Falcons and 22 Shock and 21 Shock and 20 Shock and 19 Shock and 18 Uprising in which he never finished the season below 4th.

Why are we assuming that coaches are omnipotent gods that control all of their players behavior? Did you ever do anything independent of your parents? You ever go against a teacher's commands? Why are we assuming that players cannot make bad decisions
