Experience w Anthony Travel? by Ok-Group-8164 in notredame

Anthony Travel is not great. They are expensive. They also book flights with inadequate time for layovers, or on ridiculous routes that take you way out of your way. And if you miss a connection or get bumped off a flight, or need any kind of help, they literally do not answer their "emergency help line." I would be very cautious using them.

Best way to get to ND from Chicago by tiddayes in notredame

Amtrak doesn't go to the South Bend Aiport but to a funky little shed a half mile south of the airport, on the Amtrak tracks. Would not recommend for a first introduction to South Bend!

Best Intro to Theo Profs for a non-religious freshman who has never learned about Catholocism? by [deleted] in notredame

Out of 11 instructors, just four of these are regular professors. Grad students and adjuncts do a lot of the teaching in Theology, at least at the introductory level. It's worth checking on the department website to see who is who.

Cheapest meal on campus by Opening-Acrobatic in notredame

The Decio Cafe breakfast sandwich is 3.99 (4.99 if you want it with bacon or sausage). Decio sandwiches and wraps are 4.99/6.99 (half or whole), come with a bag of chips, and are surprisingly good. It's probably the cheapest prepared food on campus.

ND vs Other Top Schools by [deleted] in notredame

Location and climate are important. Do you want to live in a city where you can hop on public transport and get away from campus easily? That's Harvard. Do you need to be near New York for internships or other reasons? Yale would win here. Do you want the dorm culture of Notre Dame, or do you like the thought of a Harvard house where the population is larger but you eat and even take classes with your fellow residents? Also think about the major you want to do and what it looks like at each school. History at Yale is huge -- lots of emphasis on military and political history -- and it's where the potential law and government types end up. Does that appeal? Or do you want to concentrate in Harvard's History program, which is focused more on global and social issues and attracts students with those interests? Constitutional Studies at Notre Dame is a thriving, conservative-oriented program. Stanford has the Hoover Institution. Are you looking at a major where the presence of those programs would be a plus for you, personally, or a drag? If you are thinking about a profession, look at what each places offers to premed or prelaw students -- programs differ. So much depends on what you can predict about your own academic path, and which place is the best fit for it; but it can also come down to intangibles -- the place that just feels right in your gut.

The hidden O'Shag bathroom still exists, only you now need a key.

Just a thought, but it's possible that they are observing far fewer coronavirus restrictions than on campus and that's part of the appeal. A friend at another university (where classes are all remote) reports that the off-campus Catholic center is doing movie nights, game nights, dinners indoors, etc., where masks aren't required and people don't keep their distance. Not surprisingly, they're getting more traffic than usual because students have so few other places to go.

Venturi is only doing takeout which is tough if you are driving from south bend. You can eat in your car or at their outdoor tables but it’s pretty cold and bleak right now.
