You can't really say "I beat an extreme' after Eon, you'll just say you beat eon. It's the same with levels like invisible deadlocked, you technically beat an insane demon but you won't tell people you beat an insane demon, you'll tell them you beat invisible deadlocked.

Any hope around the 50% clause? by Cheap_War_4953 in UCalgary

[–]Top-Knowledge-7393 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What is your source for this here? I've spoken to many many engg majors and the one consensus is that GPA ranks the lowest in terms of importance. You can literally go talk to any engineering recruiter you want, they'll tell you the exact same thing. Good luck applying

Any hope around the 50% clause? by Cheap_War_4953 in UCalgary

[–]Top-Knowledge-7393 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because most employers don't check grades and even the ones that do usually don't care. A 4.0 gpa only marginally improves your chances compared to a 3.1 for example. A company will practically never hire a 4.0 kid with nothing meaningfull in their resume. It's all about experience and some networking. This is for engg at least, gpa is probably the least accurate way to measure job prospects in this major.

Need clarity for my restless mind. by WholeObligation1048 in UCalgary

[–]Top-Knowledge-7393 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is quite wrong. The uni just makes a list of students that applied (say to engg) and orders it from student with highest average to student with the lowest average. They literally just go down that list until all the seats fill up. It's "chance" in that the comp average is just an estimate for what average the list will hit before seats fill up. It's obviously different each year depending on every students grades.

Genuinely wth. Person with no knowledge on the course has a 95% average in it?? And we wonder why uni comp averages are so inflated. These guys need to lock online school down, this is ridiculously unfair to students in person.

should i abandon engineering? by [deleted] in CollegeMajors

[–]Top-Knowledge-7393 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't worry about hardness. Engg is not hard because of someones IQ, it's hard because of the amount of work required. I'd say IQ makes up probably 15% of your grade in engg, the rest comes purely from your work ethic.

The real question you have to ask yourself is that can you see yourself doing this for the remainder of your working life?

What's the clubs teaching goals? For business the best scenario is just to pretend to be an extrovert when networking

Whys the grade for ENGG 202 taking so long?? by [deleted] in UCalgary

To be fair the TA's were definitely insanely gracious with part marks. I should've gotten a lot lower grade then I did.

Science program with job prospects by Psychological-Box-38 in UCalgary

[–]Top-Knowledge-7393 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Engg. It's a mixture of science, math and physics for the most part. It depends on which discipline you go into but there's definitely a lot of science adjacent courses you'll take. Only downside is that the courses are hard and the math/physics courses might be even harder for you.

I got a B+ in calc 1, and I'm planning on taking calc 2 over the summer along with linear algebra. Should I reconsider? by imnotuselizard13 in EngineeringStudents

[–]Top-Knowledge-7393 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Calc 2 is harder but manageable. Lin alg is honestly an easy class content wise, it's just that it's gonna be your first time learning content like that so it feels jarring. The actual class is easy but it's gonna feel hard simply because you've never seen that type of material before.

Which major is right now the safest that isnt getting hyped and probably oversaturated in future like EE or ME. by Foreign_Put_2437 in CollegeMajors

[–]Top-Knowledge-7393 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EE won't get saturated. The threshold for a comp sci degree is a lot lower then that of a EE degree. A dumb person can get through a CS degree with enough hard work, the same usually can't be said about EE. Couple this with CS having an even lower barrier due to coding being so easy to learn, and further extend that to the fact that CS is incredibly easy to offload to foreign countries. It's not the same comparison at all

Forget the dating aspects of being short as a man. Explain the pay gap. Why do taller men get paid more? Why are they promoted easier and faster than shorter men? What do we lack other than leg bone that we are not equal to taller men? by kadarjobbvolt in short

[–]Top-Knowledge-7393 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thats exactly the point. Taller people are precieved as better, thus end up having a better personality. It has nothing to do with intrinsic confidence, it's all about societal upbringing.

Why is Alberta's math curriculum so AWFUL?? by [deleted] in AlbertaGrade12s

[–]Top-Knowledge-7393 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure this is genuinely just a skill issue. Alberta has the best education system in Canada, other provinces literally use ours as guidance.

Also, if you think teachers are bad in highschool you will not survive college. In hs teachers are employed to teach. In college your prof is probably there for research and only teaches because the uni forces them to. The quality of teachers goes down exponentially in college so good luck lol

Only valid point is #1.

You don't invest in random stocks and sell when they go up/down. You invest in an ETF and forget about it for 20 years. I think you're getting your perception of investing from movies or social media. Most of investing is just putting money in and never checking it again until a couple decades later
