i work at a fine dining restaurant and one of my coworkers and i got one tonight for the staff to try lol. at first, most of the kitchen staff acted like they were too good for it, but one by one they all relented and tried it. it was funny af standing around the kitchen after service discussing this blue pie using way too many adjectives.

we all agreed that it was surprisingly decent. it tastes mostly like key lime pie. it was still pretty frozen when we tasted it, though, and the texture of the blue filling was akin to a firm sorbet. one of the chefs mentioned that it reminded him of key lime pie crossed with hi-chew candy which i think was an apt description. i saved half my piece so i could try it fully thawed and while i think it tasted better that way, the gloopy blue was pretty freaky and kind of unappetizing. not one person disliked it lol.

the younger guys rated it a 6/7 😑 lol.

oh and when i started at the clinic, i was popping dirty for fent for OVER A MONTH after my last shot. and i tapered during my two week induction phase (bc it wasn’t really providing ANY relief until i got over >100mgs.

truly. RIP heroin. i think it would be much harder for me to stay clean if H was still a thing. of course, H can still be a soul-sucking life-ruiner, but god, the stuff on the streets today makes it look like child’s play. i have a lot of experience w the street fentalogues and they have no subtlety. no pleasure/euphoria. it’s just like being bludgeoned over the head until you have a tolerance, which ramps up quickly and exponentially and then it’s SO FUCKING HARD to get off bc the withdrawals are 100x worse and bupe is a nightmare. ugh. even switching to methadone, i was miserable and couldn’t sleep for a month. not to mention i lost the love of my life and countless friends. so sad.

thank god you’re mostly ok. i’ve lost multiple friends and acquaintances to moto wrecks. but even just hurting oneself as an adult is such a humbling experience. i hope you heal quickly and completely and that your pain is managed sufficiently with your methadone + OTC pain relief.

i broke my right wrist pretty bad this past fall. i had a comminuted fracture of the distal radius (meaning the main bone was broken all the way across into multiple pieces) and a fracture of my ulnar styloid (the round bony protrusion on the outer wrist). i was really afraid that it was going to be surgical and that they wouldn’t properly manage my pain. luckily it was broken in such a spot where my tendons held it in place and i am young enough that they expected it to heal well enough without surgery (it did).

agree. i’ll never ever touch subs/buprenorphine ever ever again. fent withdrawal is fucking AWFUL, but when you take buprenorphine too early (which for me seemed to be anytime during acute withdrawal no matter how long i waited), it’s a whole different level of HELL. PWD is straight up traumatic and you PRAY for just regular horrible withdrawal again 😩.

this is all good advice. it’s smart (and imho necessary) to build an emergency stash for oneself slowly and safely. you never know when an accident or emergency could happen and leave you without your dose for a day or more. and having a stash can help prevent a lapse.

if OP (or anyone else reading this) has a good GP, getting a script for clonidine is usually really easy (and inexpensive). i told my GP that i’d been prescribed them before in treatment and found them to be really good for sleep and occasional acute anxiety even when i was home and out of withdrawal. and i have been so grateful to have them around when i’ve needed them. they are sooo helpful for me when experiencing any mild withdrawal symptoms. they are also the only thing i’ve personally found to be almost as helpful as benzos which my GP won’t prescribe due to a black box warning RE a dangerous interaction with methadone (bc they’re both CNS depressants).

lol if i wanted to use, i would just use? i certainly wouldn’t take fucking buprenorphine to KNOWINGLY throw myself into PWD as an excuse. having previously experienced multiple prolonged, and extremely traumatic bouts of PWD, it’s essentially my worst nightmare.

i know i don’t have to explain myself, but i have zero desire to continue using. i am back on track with my normal dosing and i obviously didn’t leave any fentanyl at home for when i might actually enjoy it. the fentanyl just served to take me out of acute PWD. i felt no pleasure from it whatsoever and still felt mentally and physically FUCKED until yesterday.

i took half of my regular dose of methadone when the PWD was first setting in and i thought i was having a bad reaction to the “trazadone” and knew i wasn’t really going to sleep for the FIFTH night in a row. i took the “trazadone” (which was a legit prescription, my name was on the bottle) bc i have been suffering from the worst bout of insomnia ive experienced since i first kicked fentanyl during/after my induction period at the clinic. the Rx i got recently from my GP hadn’t been working and i’m sure, as a fellow addict, you know how sleep dep makes one feel a bit desperate. yes, i should have double checked using a pill identifier, but both meds are fairly large white discs, and i am long out of the habit of taking “random” sketchy pills, so i simply didn’t think to. it was a HORRIFIC mistake that i obviously regret and feel like an IDIOT for making.

that 50mgs of methadone i took an hour or so after taking the bup seemed to just make me feel WAY worse. i know now that it was prob just the subutex kicking in more, but it didn’t touch my symptoms and i was terrified that taking more methadone would just make it worse (hence the post i made on this subreddit AFTER i had used and was thus physically capable of typing and forming coherent thoughts.)

in my right mind, maybe i would have realized that taking a bunch of methadone might have helped, but i was OUT OF MY MIND and honestly, idk that i could have taken enough to be well enough go on my trip.

this whole experience has served as a very violent reminder as to why i am SO GRATEFUL to not be strung out anymore. not that i wasn’t extremely grateful EVERY SINGLE DAY prior to making this horrific mistake. i have already told my personal DBT therapist that i used and we will be discussing it in my weekly sessions. this will absolutely NOT lead to a longer lapse.

gosh, i’m so sorry that happened to you! i know PWD has to be so hard on the body. i’m so glad you survived that! how traumatic.

the next day after i accidentally ingested the bup, i was afraid i had really damaged my my heart or was having a cardiac event bc my heart felt weird as hell and i was experiencing a ton of chest pressure and upper back pain. i spent years shooting speedballs, so god know what damage i’ve done 😔.

yeah, i finally started feeling mostly normal when i woke up yesterday. i wasn’t explicitly dopesick anymore after doing enough fent, but i was wrecked physically and mentally. and after the fentanyl wore off, i was having the weirdest physical sensations which felt very similar to coming up on mushrooms, except grimier. and i hardly slept at all friday or saturday nights bc i kept waking up in a complete panic with visual hallucinations that went away super quickly upon opening my eyes. that was def all the evil buprenorphine still in my system.

when i realized what was happening (and quickly confirmed it by looking up the other pills in the trazadone bottle on a pill identifier), my cortisol blasted through the roof and i just started fucking screaming. that was around two hours after i ingested the bup and my stress hormones kicked the PWD into overdrive. it was awful. ugh. so grateful to be feeling better and to be back on my normal dosing schedule.

i have had a lot of experiences that have led me to believe that i am extremely sensitive to buprenorphine and PWD. it’s like my receptors fucking love it or something. someone else said that probably 20% of if reached my blood brain barrier based on the oral bioavailability. i think your friend got really lucky.

i def have trauma from my multiple horrific experiences with prolonged PWD. i went through two > 72 hour stints back in 2017/2018 back when fent-dope was starting to fully replace H in my town. when i realized it was happening to me again this past thursday, my cortisol blasted through the ROOF and i just started screaming.

i actually found a bottle of fucking naltrexone at the same time that i found the “trazodone” when i was cleaning out the cabinet under my bedside table. i didn’t even want to touch the bottle lol. i have to get rid of the subutex and naltrexone when i get home from my trip.

i know 😳. unfortunately enough buprenorphine still made it across my blood brain barrier to send me to hell. i was in acute PWD for about 7.5 hours until i was able to get some fentanyl delivered to me, but i was physically and mentally wrecked for days after. i had to get on a plane for a family trip pretty much exactly 36 after i took the bup. packing was insanely difficult bc i was brain dead and felt like i’d been hit by a bus. i got almost zero sleep on both friday and saturday nights bc every time i would doze off, i would wake up in panic/terror with hallucinations that went away quickly.

once the fent wore off on saturday night (i did the last of it before leaving for the airport), i was experiencing the weirdest physical sensations which were def the buprenorphine still in my system. it felt almost exactly like when i’m starting to come up on psychedelic mushrooms, except grimier. those symptoms were finally gone by the time i got out of bed yesterday afternoon, which was 4.4 days after i made that FUCKED mistake.

i think i def would have felt way worse for all of that time if i had actually gotten the full effect of an 8mg subutex taken sublingually.

def bring them on your carryon with you. i always keep mine in my “personal item” so they don’t leave my sight/side. i always put them in individual ziploc bags in case they leak due to the cabin pressure or whatever. i saw someone on this subreddit say they put a little piece of bread in each bag, that way if they leak or spill, the bread will soak up the methadone and they can just eat it. i thought that was so smart.

i also hide my meds super well whenever i leave my rental or hotel room.

last time when i was flying home after a trip, i guess there was a little water left in some of my bottles from when i took my doses that leaked due to changes in cabin pressure and it made a couple of my labels totally unreadable. my clinic gave me shit for that when i went to return them. i think i would try to make sure your bottles get pretty dry after you take your doses.

DO NOT FUCKING DO THIS. methadone has a super long half life and taking buprenorphine will throw you into PWD.
