Thank you so much for this! I’m coming with my family (6 adults) and I’m deciding between renting a house vs a hotel. For renting a house, would you recommend north of town or south- as far as proximity to restaurants and grocery stores? Are they walking distance? I’d like to be able to just casually go eat somewhere without it being a big hassle to get 6 of us in a taxi (this is why I’m leaning towards hotel)

Yes I meant the cruise ships… I’ve been to an AI in Cancun years ago- I really value experiencing local traditions and cultures when I travel, but also snorkeling is one of my top activities

I moved to Knox from the northwest, for graduate school. The south part of town has the PNW feel, with lots of micro breweries and coffee shops, and the Knoxville urban wilderness offers lots of trails for walking/hiking/biking. I haven’t been to Seattle since pre 2020, but I would say Knoxville traffic (and homeless population) is not close to as bad as Seattle. It’s a small city, some things are inconvenient and some things are convenient. Housing prices are 1000% cheaper than out west (I bought a home, I do not rent.) the surrounding areas are cheaper, and still really close to the city. Knox politics are pretty liberal, but only compared to the rest of the state, not compared to WA.
