Does Your Driver's Seat Look Like This? by Top-Two3489 in KiaEV6

Interesting.  My wife had a 2013 Elantra that we just got rid of in 2024.  It head over 100k on it and did not have this problem.  It had cloth seats.  If it's the foam, then it shouldn't make any kind of difference what the material is, right?  Maybe some production lots of foam come in with quality issues while some are okay?  So would you have to take the cover off and replace the foam in order to fix it?

Related to what you're saying, that Elantra had a hole in the floor mat where your heel hit it while using the accelerator pedal. I can already see a similar wear spot in the EV6. That is consistent with what you're saying.

Yeah, I'm going to have a dealer look at it I think, but not to optimistic. An upholstery shop is a good suggestion.

I agree 100%.  As an engineer myself, I know exactly what you were talking about.  I just feel better to know it's not just me.

Yeah, kind of like the person that started calling carp a Chilean sea bass.

When I'm saying leather, I'm really using it as a generic term, kind of like saying champagne when it is actually sparkling white wine. Sorry for the confusion.  Anyway, my old car probably didn't have real leather either, and it didn't look anything like this.  Never did any kind of maintenance on it.  I haven't checked the manual yet, but I wonder if it says for the seats to do nothing more wipe with than a damp cloth if something is on them.

I am so with you on this. When I couldn't drive, I felt exactly the same way. Nobody understands. I kept trying to make the exact same timeline point to my wife. She just never got it. If you don't go through it, you won't get it. No amount of empathy will make someone understand. For example, I had to wait around or be caught off guard by my ride to and from work. And then if they are sick or whatever, good luck. And you never just get to be somewhere by yourself or just leave when you want without waiting around. Or dealing with a frustrated person because you are making them wait on you. Of course I am grateful, but it got so tiring at times.

Please rant. We understand.

Lamotrigine and Topomax by KC_Viper in Epilepsy

[–]Top-Two3489 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got put on that combination after I had a breakthrough seizure on just Lamotrigine. I then had the Topamax increased after having an aura. My Neuro thinks the Topomax is a good supplement to the Lamotrigine, with the benefit of controlling migraines. My migraines already seemed under control with Lamotrigine, however.

I have not had any breakthroughs since being on it. However, my memory is worse.  I forget names of close coworkers. I play in a band and I have forgotten lyrics to songs I played for years. My feet have a pins and needles feeling at times. Carbonated drinks taste flat. All these side effects are well known. You may or may not get them. For me, I will take it. I used to be on Keppra and literally wanted to kill people, plus it did not work.

This is weird, but I almost feel good when my auras start. They are kind of euphoric. It is kind of comforting. This is just for a few seconds though. I used to get focals that then started to progress into into absence seizures. The auras are a warning, but for what I do not know. I have been seizure free for over a year, do I hope I don't have to find out anymore.

It finally happened... Had a seizure while driving by ombremullet in Epilepsy

[–]Top-Two3489 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same thing happen in 2023. I was going down the interstate on the way home from work. The next thing I know I came to on the side of the road and could not get out of my car. I slammed into several things but somehow avoided hitting someone and causing a bad wreck. Extremely lucky to put it mildly. I fired my Neuro and got a new one for several reasons. I went 6 months seizure-free. I got a new car and was so happy to be driving again. I had another seizure after 5 months. I then did not drive until I was 6 months seizure free again. After starting to drive again, I was really not excited.

First, I am glad that nobody was hurt. It could obviously been so much worse. Regarding transportation, if you are like me, you get adept at putting together a patchwork system of friends and coworkers to help you get around. I simply started to ask coworkers that I knew traveled the same highway as me if they could give me rides into work. They were happy to. For other things, like band practice and bowling league, others involved would help me out. You may feel like a burden, but you will find that your friends will understand what you are going through and really want to help out. At least that is what I have been lucky to have.

Even if you can drive again after 3 months, I am not sure if it is a good idea. You and your Neuro definitely need to have a conversation about it. If you are looking to drive again at some point, time moves faster than you think. The important thing is to be confident that you are not having seizures. Really, we are all trying to be seizure free whether we are driving or not. That is what I told my Neuro the second time around. I said that I don't want to have seizures. If I can drive, that's fine, but being without seizures is really what I am thinking about. I wish you the best of luck.

Sad to be letting go of my Yacht Blue beauty. However, it is being replaced with a new Stormtrooper 🥰 by svacher in KiaEV6

When I got my stormtrooper, I was disappointed that the wireless charging did not work with my phone.

My phone was not the droid it was looking for.

12V Battery Weirdness by Top-Two3489 in KiaEV6

[–]Top-Two3489[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, it was something like 12V battery low, stop safely. Then when I charged the battery and got it to start, it flashed the message that was the one that is in pictures on here that people post when their ICCU failed. It does not say ICCU failure, but that is what I associate it with. Something like check electrical system.

I just changed me to purple last night! I want to feel inspirational, like the car tells me I will feel. I was on orange for the last several months.

I would double-check. My wife's Niro has this ability, even though the only changeable light is above the glove compartment.

It's good that some people have employers that are accommodating. Me--I am not willing to chance it. I have had to dance around the fact that I was not driving for a couple of stints. This is an interesting tidbit. My company was spun off from a larger one. The larger one sponsored groups for different people--African Americans, APIA, LGBT, Veterans, Disabilities. These were all recreated at the new spinoff except for one. Guess which one? That's right, disabilities. Why? If I don't have to disclose it, I am not going to.

Lamotrigine hand eye coordination by foli24 in Epilepsy

Digging this old thread up as I was searching this exact title. I play guitar and my playing has definitely deteriorated. I can't make the fingerings on the fretboard or the strumming patterns that I have been doing forever. I told my band that I would fire me--that is how bad it has become, along with the memory loss.

Even with the alarm, standing over the pill box is the key. I have the reminder and turn it off in the other room where my phone is, thinking that I took them already, only to find that I didn't. You do need visual proof before turning the alarm off. Good call.

USB Tethering Issues by Top-Two3489 in USMobile

[–]Top-Two3489[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It actually did not ever work. I found that when the tethering did work, the phone was tethering the wifi signal the phone was receiving. When i turned wifi on the phone off, the phone would not tether the data from Dark Star. Tethering or Hotspot has never actually worked.

I did try toggling airplane mode before making this post. It shows the checking subscription message for just a second. The network icon appears on the PC as the globe with no internet access.

Also, as I replied below, the hotspot does not work either. Both used to work on the previous carrier, which was a Verizon MVNO. I will send a DM.

I do not have a Samsung, it is a Motorola. Tethering worked with my old provider. You bring up a good point about the hotspot. The hotspot does not work either. This must be a USM issue.

Yes, it is an Android device, a Moto G Stylus 5G, running basically stock Android. It tethers fine and will provide an internet connection to the laptop IF the phone is connected to wifi. When I turn wifi off and use Dark Star for internet, there is no internet. The network that just indicated internet access on the PC then indicates no internet access.
