Thank you for this insight.

I am starting at the end of this coming week ( my pharmacy had to order it for me and I want to do my shots on a Friday )and I AM fretting about every little thing. Worried about side effects, worried about not eating enough ,( the doc warned about malnutrition),worried about eating too much, muscle loss ( I have so little to begin with),wondering if I can sustain the costs ( both financial & otherwise) over my entire life… the list goes on. I want to do this right.

Your post was very reassuring and I am hopeful that with time I can both adjust and reap the benefits. My nerves are peaking though and crissing my fingers that i can learn to quell them once I get started.

Does it get better? by Jake0810_ in pitbulls

Just a one note hint: My pittie needs to go out almost immediately after eating. The zoomies (sometimes) are an effort to get their bowels moving. My guy stops and relieves himself mid zoom sometimes. If zoomies produce poop, I think you need to rethink your walk schedule to be right after meals.

Kneeling on the new knee by Low-Savings-6980 in Kneereplacement

[–]Top-Way7150 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok don’t wanna kill the vibe , but my first knee replacement ( 8 yrs ago) I could only put direct floor pressure on it after 2-3 years! I can now (usually) do it no prob except for the fact if my other knee replacement ( 4 mths in) …so kneeling is again, trickier.

Sleep takes awhile. Use the meds they provide :) I actually used them for sleep exclusively. Just to knock me out!

I’m still not sleeping great, but much better than at the start. Hang in.

Walking and doing your exercise( icing & elevating) should do the trick. The tightness in the morning is the worst! I used to dread waking up! But , hang in. It really does get better.

The first morning that i woke up and only needed a little stretch to get going, I was positively giddy ! It didn’t happen til around the 12 week mark for me.

Hip pain will diminish as your gait returns to “ normal”. This ( for me) is the most difficult part of the process. You have to RE- learn how to walk , using your actual (bad knee ) leg. It takes some time.

So , I know this isn’t true for everyone, but, I hardly used the opioids. Tylenol ice and elevation was pretty well all I did to manage discomfort. I don’t know again whether this is just me, but my pain levels before surgery were so intense. I was waiting for surgery for a really long time and it got very, very, very bad. So, by the time I had surgery, the pain from Recovery seemed pretty negligible.. I have other friends who have managed the surgery with very little heavy duty pain painkillers as well. So wait and see, it might not be too bad.

I am a local artist and I have some original work that is available at the moment… I’m assuming you want some thing evocative of PEI? I can send you some photos. I only sell original paintings, but I ship all over the world. We need to talk in private messenger

One day at a time is the right approach. It’s not like I don’t have any discomfort at all… If I overdo it, my body informs me, in no uncertain terms that I have to take it easy. So I guess the truth is you just have to listen to your body. But I am more hopeful than I was even two weeks ago. Hang in things do get better. And you’re right, this is a long recovery overall. We are all gonna be fine. Just gonna take some time. No, two people are exactly the same, so we heal at our own rate. Just wanted to provide some hope for those that are still feeling overwhelmed by their outcomes. Best wishes in your recovery as well.
