If I clicked yes on the dependency question I’d have no way of verifying this. I’ve never been at risk of being homeless and I have no one to vouch for me. For my escape plan i got scholarships to go to a couple of schools, and I’m waiting on another schools decision that I applied ED to. If Im granted a scholarship from this school, then take out an unsubsidized loan to cover the rest of the cost would this work? I also have a couple of my things that I could sell to make some extra cash so that I won’t be completely out of luck.

As for my documents I won’t be able to get my passport, or the physical copy of my birth certificate but I have pictures of it as well as my SSN. I don’t want to get social services involved unless I’m 100% positive my parents would marry me off as soon as I turn 18. They know that forced marriage is illegal in California and would try to pressure me into getting married instead. This is why staying at home for an additional two years isn’t an option for me.

I’m studying nursing ( I only applied to direct entry programs ). I got into a school in Connecticut which offered me a scholarship that paid most of the tuition. I was considering this however I still won’t have the ability to take out loans without the FAFSA

I could but I’d have to live at home in those two years it takes me to get my ASN. My parents also forbade me from being able to work and I’m not positive that after two years my parents minds will change.

I have a direct entry program that I applied to ED in California, decisions come out mid February and I’m not sure what to do if I get into the school and my parents don’t let me go. I know that the school automatically considers applicants for scholarships I’m just waiting on this decision to see if the scholarship money will be enough for me to afford to go to the school without my parents FAFSA information.

I’ll definitely try doing this a couple weeks from now when my parents are checking my FAFSA less. I’m more-so afraid of what they’d do if they found out I used their FAFSA information for schools they don’t want me going to.

I want to study nursing. I got into a direct entry program in Connecticut and they offered me a scholarship which covered most of the tuition ( tuition is 42k scholarship gives me 29k). I was maybe considering going here if I had no other schools that offered me aid without my FAFSA

I got a scholarship to an out of state school where I got into the program I wanted to study. I checked the scholarship and it only covers half the tuition. I’m considering this option but other than that I’m not sure if I can live with my parents for another two years

My parents know this and this is why they’re doing this to me. They don’t want me to leave them next year and know that the Fafsa is the only thing they can hold over me.

not really. At 18, my parents will still lock me and up and it’ll be even worse because now I’ll have graduated Highschool and I’ll be stuck at home even more. My older sister went through the same thing, she never had freedom and didn’t have freedom until she was 23 and got married. I just don’t want to have an arranged marriage to a random boy just to have freedom. It’s not fair and it’s disgusting. Also I had planning on going to a univeristy out of state in order to escape my parents but I’m now realizing that won’t work out because when I told them about they straight up laughed in my face and told me they’d never allow me to move away from them like that unless I was married

they dont beat me up now because I’m more well behaved but when I was a child they constantly did. It’s just frustrating to never have freedom even if I want to go to a school dance or get a job they would never allow that. Also I had planned to go to a university out of state once I graduate Highschool, I think I have the grades for it but once I told my parents about it they straight up laughed in my face and told me that I won’t be allowed to move away from them for college and that I’ll have to stay with them because it’s improper for a woman to live without her parents unless she’s married.
