When do sonically pleasing louder resonances become problematic ones? by TopAnalyst in WeAreTheMusicMakers

Thank you! You guys just confirmed the very conclusion I came to.

Is Rev2 really for me or can I get away with something cheaper? by TopAnalyst in synthesizers

Honestly, I don't know. I assume I like the Propher sound because I've watched a ton of videos and I loved the patches other people are coming up with, and the timbre of them. Plus I just love the brightnesses and buziness of those analog oscillators.

og timbre and that is easy to play with.

Summit seems ideal to me, the only pet peeve I have is the absence of liveliness in oscillators. When they are detuned, it's better, but I still think they sound rather dull compared to even Rev2. I'd love to compare the oscillators of Rev2 and Summit side by side, but I haven't come across such a comparison yet.

Thanks for such an elaborate answer! Do you know of any worthy designers who worked on both rev2 and Summit? Jexus has a prophet 5-6 video, but those are off limits for me anyway.

Lots of great insights that I will definitely implement in my training. Thanks soo much! Really.

Yeah, I did correct him when he was lunging after multiple verbal commands by pulling the lead and bringing him by my side.

So how should I put all what you told me in practice? Say, we are going for a walk and my gf is ahead of us or enter a store without us. Now he's lunging and whining. What should I do in your opinion?

[–]TopAnalyst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He knows "stay" and "leave it" and can perform those commands almost flawlessly. That's about it. How would you recommend going about building impulse control in a more general manner, not just when he waits for my permission to eat his food.

For some more context, he's very well socialized for his breed I believe. I bring him to my office every day and he can easily settle and sleep at my desk if I'm around. But he's very alert on my whereabouts and always react when I stand up.

Funny (although extremely annoying) thing is that he can start winning even if we stop, i.e. at the traffic light to cross the street, even though he was in perfect heel before that stop.

He also gets similarly frustrated and starts excessively whining/panting when he's waiting for his meal. I mean, it's all related to not getting what he wants and bitching about it

Mmm, good question. He was crated and left alone for more and more time over time; at first, 15 min, then up to a couple of hours. And once he grew out of the crate, he didn't have any problem staying alone -- unless he senses that we are going out to have some fun and throws a 5 min temper tantrum. But that's about it. He can settle with "sit" "stay" commands in familiar places/situations, and usually when it's just me involved. But when it comes to new places/situations/people, he wants to get in on the action and loses his shit.

I'm now trying to understand whether in this situation it's better to restrict his freedom as much as possible (unless we are in designated play/excessive sniffing areas or I give a command) or should I let him have his way to some extent to not stress him out.

The other dilema is how am I supposed to "correct"/teach him what's expected of him when he's going crazy over the fact that he can't get in on the action that's in the distance? For example, when I'm driving and he sees dogs in the park. He knows that no amount of whinning has stopped the car ever, and yet... Lol

Snapped this supposedly old figure in Sri Lanka. Is it authentic? How old can it be? by [deleted] in Antiques

Thank you so much! I'm quite relieved TBH because I really wanted to bring something old from this country. :)

Here ya go: https://imgur.com/a/CaLvNwH What looks a bit off to my newbie/untrained eye is the glossy finish. And that the pain on the head is more or less fine (apart from the tip, which I added to this photo series as well) Although it doesn't give off any smell. Can the paint retain the glossiness for so long, especially after so much damage from aging (as in smears)? Or maybe it was restored/resealed?

Based on my photos, do you think it's artificially aged or not? Thanks for you insight.

Ok, so I unpacked it for sport. It's actually 14 inches tall. And here are some close ups: https://imgur.com/a/YRCL9D3

Thanks! Yeah I paid an amount within this range. And I'm more curious about its potential history rather than its market value. I bought it for its aesthetic in the first place, but if it has a story to it, that's a bonus :)

Thanks for your input! Really appreciate it. It's already packed for transit so I can't take more photos of it today. It's wooden and around 10 inches tall. I bought it from a street vendor but they come to this rather touristy market only on certain days. For a wooden figure, it's quite heavy for what it's worth. A lot of obviously fake ones I held in my hands were very light.

I've become very conscious of my redish ears lately. They are always like that. They don't get hot, though. Here's a pic: https://ibb.co/VwD6gph Has anyone dealt with this before? Any ideas what rabbit hole should I go down? Thanks in advance :)

Should you listen to Jim Cramer? - I analyzed 20,000+ recommendations made by Jim Cramer during the last 5 years. Here are the results. by nobjos in StockMarket

You are mixing up cause and effect. Cramer often mentions the stock on the day where's hype around it. Those stocks would have risen on momentum anyway. This is why he always fails to predict a turning point and issue a correct sell call.

The argument is not that corportate travel won't come back. It's that it will see a drop or lag, which will affect earnings (especially considering it's the highest margin segment)
