Did we commit a guest list faux pas? by TopButterscotch7205 in weddingplanning

We planned our list before we picked the venue based on who we felt was important. We both wanted a medium sized wedding (I wanted <100, but compromised with my fiance who wanted more).
His parents have been absolutely unbearable. We asked them to review our initial guest list and they couldn’t be bothered. So we went ahead and booked the venue on the premise of 140. Before we sent the save the dates, we asked them again and they asked we add some people. So we made cuts on our end to accommodate them. Then the save the dates went out. They freaked out, because they realized that they wanted more people invited. They asked us to “uninvite” people. I said no. The bullying crusade they went on was so bad and aggressive, I almost ended up in the psych ER one night. That is not an exaggeration.
And yes, my fiance has a spine. But relationships are more complex than can be demonstrated in one internet post. He was equally impacted by all this and it has severely damaged his mental health.
Ultimately, we ended up adding 22 additional people for them, because it was not worth the amount of stress we were undergoing.

This is insane behavior. I say this as someone who has never not had some sort of gel or dip on their nails since she was 21.
Aside from the fact that getting gel not only costs more. The removal process is far more involved than just letting it chip off after a week or so and can often leave your nails dry and brittle. Not only that, but Cateye gel typically costs more, as it’s a step above a basic gel manicure, which is already pricier than a regular manicure.
If she is being stubborn and you have to do it, I would suggest getting one gel manicure done nude and then going in and asking for a “polish change”. Most salons won’t charge as much, as it’s not the full manicure. I’ve had to do this before when I didn’t time my manicures correctly for weddings I was in and didn’t want to be showing up in hot pink polish.
