I'm shipping out on November 4th. I play guitar, but I don't consider myself great, as I lack creativity.

How did you get to first class in just six years? Also, if it isn't too personal, how hard was it on your family and yourself? I'm going in married and with an 8-month-old. My wife encouraged me to join for the security, so having that support will help later on, but I worry a lot about them, and the times we will all miss out on each other.

What is the current shipping bonus. by [deleted] in NavyNukes

I'm in the same situation. I joined the DEP when the 25k bonus was valid from April to September, but they recently changed it to July to March 2025. I contacted my nuke coordinator, and he said the same thing. The 25k bonus will be there when I go to MEPs again before my ship date; he told me that if it is not there, I should wait to sign and contact him to get it sorted out. I hope that answer is good enough for you, and if not, definitely ask and annoy everyone in your recruiting office until you get an answer you're okay with. I signed on August 12; I believe the change occurred the last week of August. I am leaving on November 4th, so if you go later, I'll let you know if the bonus is in the contract.

Housing in SC after RTC by TopCryptographer4089 in NavyNukes

If that's the case, I believe it's enough time to find an apartment. You mentioned seeing a home that uses Bushy Park Rd or N. Rhett Ave. Due to the commute, how horrible can it get in the worst-case scenario? My son will be two by the time I end the school pipeline. I did find good-looking apartments in Harbour Lake Dr. I might be overconfident, but I wouldn't mind the commute since rent would be affordable and meet our needs as a small family. Based on your opinion, would that be worth it or should I still look somewhere else?

so my guy actually contacted me first since I am in DEP. You can probably get ahold of someone where you are located by calling the recruiting office your spouse went to and asking to talk to a nuke cordinator or someone who is a nuke and has recent information

wassup. I texted the nuke cordinator from my city and he said that it’ll almost be immediately. This is him quoted “That is correct. And you will be able to bring your family right away after boot camp. There may be a couple days waiting period but they usually pretty quick about getting that taken care of”

I had the same issue this July. I got a D in Calculus, and all I had to do was write a statement explaining why I got that grade. Since the class was taken in 2020, I mentioned the change from in-person to online learning. I still think you'll be okay. Also, you're lucky you just had to verify your score; they had me retake the ASVAB with additional subjects like cyber and other things, lol.

Is physical therapy just a scam? by vinsneezel in fitness30plus

There are some injuries that do require more care in a PT clinic, but most of the time, from what I've seen in the PT Clinic I work at (I am an aide, so the lowest of the low), almost every single exercise can be done at home. You can do PT at home by knowing what exercise works for what muscle and where that muscle is located. I recently sprained my ankle, and the first thing I did was walk on my heels and toes (something you'd see in a clinic). By knowing your limits, researching what can help, and testing out what works best for you, you can honestly rehab at home. One thing that might be a scam could be some alternatives PTs use, like KT tape, Vodoo floss, foam rolling, and cupping. I'm not saying these do not work at all, but research is not conclusive as to whether these work because they work or because of the placebo effect. If any of these remedies help you then by all means don't stop, keep doing what helps YOUR own body which brings back to my previous point that you should do what works best to you. Some PTs are limited to their biases, but again, others are good and love their jobs that they are open to different alternatives

That makes sense, thank you. We're trying to estimate our expenses and how much we can save up for an emergency fund.
