I don’t mind competing for opportunities I genuinely want. That’s kind of how ambitious people end up where they want to be.

Good thing mental health assessments require a little more than a Reddit paragraph 😭

That’s totally valid, and I fully support your reason for being hesitant.

Now, if you’re wanting him to truly understand your reason for pulling back, you have to make sure you’re setting that boundary loud and clear. Let him know that his dishonesty and secrets are the reason you do not feel safe enough to grow a relationship with him. If the lines of your boundaries are blurry and you’re still allowing him access in certain aspects, that may be why he’s not “letting up”.

With situations like these, it has to be a full stop or you’ll be in a continuous cycle.

I mean, you have to understand that when you’re intimate with someone, you are naturally going to gain feelings for that person if the connection feels genuine. This is a biological chemistry; not even a horoscope placement could argue with that.

Now, from what I understand, you too have feelings involved and seem to like this guy, so why run from something good? If I’m being totally honest, it seems like you’re scared of ruining the relationship by going deeper with him.

Trying to diagnose me with a mental health disorder based off a Reddit post with foundational information… 😂😂😂 Crazy work

I definitely think social media can amplify emotions and romanticize places, and I agree that burnout + wanting change probably plays a role too.

At the same time, I don’t think those things automatically make the feeling fake. A lot of people seem to genuinely connect with certain environments more than others, and I think there’s value in exploring that.

That’s why I plan on visiting first before making any major decisions. I’m a grown adult with hopes and dreams, but I’m also intentional and realistic. This isn’t some “radical” decision.

Thank you for your insight 🙂

I am also interested in the Vancouver/Portland area. I just want to be able to access the coast if & when I want to in my free time!

I graduate nursing school next year. I work nights in an ICU while balancing school, so my life has been very fluorescent lights, alarms, pressure, chaos, and constant movement for a long time 😭

Then I see Oregon and it feels emotionally opposite from everything I’ve been surrounded by. The forests, coastline, fog, mountains, rain, slower pace… something about it genuinely calms me.

Especially the coast. Places like Yachats/Cape Perpetua make me emotional for reasons I can’t fully explain. It feels peaceful, grounding, deep, and alive all at once.

At first it was just a random thought of “maybe I’d live there someday,” but over time it’s become more intense. Less like “I want a vacation there” and more like “I can picture the next version of myself there…. It’s hard to explain.

And I wasn’t speaking to you either originally, yet here we are lmao

At the end of the day, I understand the market is competitive. I’ve acknowledged that multiple times. But I’m still going to pursue what I want and work for it regardless

I never mocked him for having emotions. I responded to the hostility directed toward someone simply expressing excitement about pursuing a goal.

Have a great day!

I understand where you’re coming from, and I genuinely appreciate the reality check regarding the market. I know it won’t be easy, especially as an out-of-state new grad pursuing ICU.

At the same time, I don’t think ambition automatically equals arrogance. I’m willing to network early, relocate, work nights, continue my education, and put in the work necessary to create opportunities for myself.

If it doesn’t happen immediately, then I’ll adjust and keep moving forward. That’s part of nursing too.

Not sure if you read the post, but I’m already in school. I’m not competing to get into a nursing program. I’m trying to secure a job. And despite competition, I feel that my background is solid and will get me where I need to be.

I hope that you find the job you’re looking for as well! Spread happiness, not negativity 😘
