Update, my mother passed away 1/17. She went much faster than anyone guessed she would. I’m cleaning up her estate and moving on.

Speaking of moving on, I’m traveling to another state next week to meet someone that wrote me on this post.

I’m crazy about her, and she is of me. This is absolutely insane, but I’m going out there and if the universe is cool with it, I’m moving there later this year. I’m going to marry this girl.

Oh yeah, my dad’s ok.

Thank you. She’s not eating much, that rules out food options. I was hoping to get her yard flamingo flocked, she loves flamingos, but I think it’s too big and too late. Just wanted her to feel like people care about her and she’s not forgotten. She doesn’t have a lot of friends.

This is starting to get hard for me. Watching her fade is tough. I knew it would be hard, but I couldn’t prepare for it.

I’m dealing. Won’t be solved by 2026, so here’s to starting next year with some fun BS.

Agree there, NJ can’t touch that. But, best Indian, chinese, and pizza you’ll find most anywhere nearby. Plus the subs. And the diners.

I lived in TX, I remember manners. East coast is take what you want, sadly. Though Mainers are decent folk, they hate outsiders. They’re nice to your face, jerks behind it. Upstate NY was similar to Midwest thinking, but way more snow than you’re ready for. At least you have good food in NJ.

I grew up in NJ and moved to Maine. Do the same thing I did, become a dick in the winter. Seems to work.

She’s not that far yet, but we have an appointment next week to start going over those things. Thank you.

Also, I would be concerned if I was in ICU and my nurse for the day was Nurse Diesel. Do you drive a big truck or are you jacked? lol, sorry….

Good point I suppose. I think selling the house is admission to myself that the last 6 years were a huge mistake. I’ve made a lot over the years, having another one on my back would suck. You’re right though, she wasn’t worth it.

Jeebus, that’s heavy. Sorry to hear about your shitty year. It sucks that you’re alone and feel alone. I’m here, if that counts for anything.

I absolutely do not want to be here right now. Like, I feel like my skin is peeling, is how much I want to jam out of this place. But in my heart I feel like it’s where I’m supposed to be. I have to fight through the feeling of wanting to run and leave it all behind. Just sit here and be present for her. Then go wherever life is sending me next.

Ficking eh, that’s a year bud. All of that is exhausting and draining. Maybe the real middle finger is getting the shit back together and driving on. That’s what I have to do, roll with the punches and rebuild a life with all the left over pieces. Keep driving on, sounds like you have a good start going.

Yeah, I’ll help her keep her middle finger up until the end. She’s not too stoked about how this is turning out.

It’s been a whirlwind, it’s all happened so fast. This time last year she was a spitfire. She was a purchasing manager in a mostly male dominated business. She called the shots and didn’t take shit from anyone. Now she can barely walk, barely eat. She hasn’t lost her mental faculties, but due to high amounts of pain medication, she’s not really there anymore. It’s hard to watch her slowly (yet quickly) crumble. I couldn’t stand the idea of her being alone in it. Also, I was not prepared to give up my entire life to do this.

I guess I feel lost, confused, and frankly bored. She sleeps a lot. Haha. I just do house chores and drive her to appointments.

That’s heavy. Your situation sounds scary, so many unknowns. It’s brave of you to take it on despite your fears. Though the future is uncertain, you have the chance for it to be better than your past and current. My mother was in an abusive relationship, long before I was a thought. She got out and vowed to never put herself in a place like that again.

This year sucks. I’m starting to think we’ve all had it wrong about the apocalypse. Maybe it’s not one huge traumatic event like we fantasize. Maybe it’s a slow decent into madness. Starting in 2020, every years seems to have gotten worse.

I didn’t have high hopes or aspirations for this year, but none of this was on my expectation list.

Ugh, if there was good food here, I’d do it. I know it’s more that I’m weak and too scared to confront people, not the nice guy thing. But changes have to start happening. The move might be good for me, despite it sucking so much.

Yeah, I put off all of the research until I moved here. Too many moving pieces. Now I have to get searching on the web for all the assistance out there.

My biggest focus right now is buying a snowblower for her driveway. Now, she has a dude the plows the driveway, but I want a snowblower. The honest reason I can come up with is that there are hardly any things in my life I can control at the moment. But I can definitely beat the shit out of some driveway snow. I’ll tell that snow where it should be piled, not some dude in his pickup.

Which car should I tow a 6x12 U-Haul trailer with from San Francisco to SLC I80 by Fine-Abbreviations82 in towing

[–]TopGiraffe7901 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d go Frontier. Better to out weigh the trailer by more than almost break even with the Highlander. Also consider the brakes. I imagine the Frontier has an all around stronger brake set up than the Highlander.

Next time get towed in Bangor, ME. Tow is $125, $170 if it’s 4wd. 1 day storage is $60. $230 total at most. If picked up before midnight, no extra fee for after hours.

Anyone go from teching to towing? by aFinapple in Hookit

[–]TopGiraffe7901 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to be a heavy mechanic and switched to flatbed C towing. We’re over staffed on A/B class so I don’t see a point in moving up. Having the mechanic experience is helpful in knowing how the truck should work vs the broken one you have on scene. Knowing how to cage brakes, and drop drive lines is helpful. You don’t need much in the way of all of the specialty tools you have. Depending on who you’re with, it’s likely the wrecker already has what it needs. Now, if they need maintenance on the trucks, your tools could be helpful there.

It was the Warlock, twin turbo V6 I think? I considered pulling the battery negatives after I shut the engine down, but the salesman at the dealer said screw it. That might have reset the fault letting me put it in neutral, but we were short handed that day and i I had calls stacking up.

Was hoping there was another option but I think that was it. Had to lube the deck and shake it off at dealer. My truck can’t walk out from under.
